Harper's Tale - Wednesday, March 06, 2002,
----------------------------------------------------

Main Beach
This long stretch of white sandy beach stands pristine among the beaches around Ista Island. The sand stretches off into the distance on either side of you, disappearing into the horizon. Several large uprooted trees dot the beach where they were most likely felled in a big storm. They look as if they'd make great benches, for people or firelizards alike. To the east, the crystal blue waters of the Hold cove roll up in gentle waves onto the beach, hissing softly as they ebb and flow. To the south, Ista Hold juts out of the cliff. Just west of here, a low bluff leads up to the grassy field that serves as the Hold's main gather grounds.
It is a winter midmorning.
Curled up in the sand are seven firelizards.
Blue Mzadith is here.
You see Chiarasria here.
Obvious exits:
Shallows     Steep Trail     Gather Meadow     Courtyard     Dolphinhall
You stand on the sandy main beach.

Jaqui walks quietly in from the courtyard.
Killian walks in.

Killian drags hs feet down the sandy beach, his gaze turned inward: teeth gnaw at lowewr lip, and hands dig into pockets with apparent boredom.

Jaqui is perched up on one of the large uprooted trees, watching the waves chase up on the beach. Her long hair is uncharacteristically out of its normal plait, and is blowing partially in the slight breeze on the beach. She appears to be thinking over something, a soft smile on her face shows she is enjoying the rare time away from her work.

Stubs his toe on a rock, and growls something not fit for public consumption. "Stupid rock," he notes sardonically, then glances up. Oo-- people. He's not quite sure what to do here, it seems; he twitches, s though considering melting intot he scenery, btu then, Jaqui catches his attention. He nods slightly, as though to himself, but makes m no move to disturb her.

Miralwyn is seated on her own personal driftwood log, a little ways from Jaqui, dressed for a few hours of beachside sunning in bathing suit and sun hat. Of course, Miralwyn being Miralwyn, she's also got a fat scroll on her lap, being desultorily studied from. The sound of footsteps over sand catch her attention, and she looks up to spot Killian. "Good day to you, traveler" she greets.

Above, Branwyth erupts into the atmosphere, with a sudden rush of swirling, spiralling air.
Above, Vespurath twinkles in from ::between::.
Above, Vespurath glides down to land on the beach.
Vespurath glides in for a landing.
Above, Branwyth glides gracefully down to the Courtyard.
Above, Branwyth takes off from Ista Hold Courtyard
Above, Branwyth glides down to land on the beach.
Branwyth glides in for a landing.

Jaqui looks up at the sound of Miralwyn's voice, and glances towards the new unfamiliar face, and glances to one of her own healers with a smile. Of course Miralwyn has a scroll, it seems she is never without on. She teasingly lifts her voice to Miralwyn as she slides off her log, "Apprentice, I sure hope you don't get all sorts of sand in that hide." She winks and strolls over towards the girl, nodding to Killian and smiling softly as she does so.

Among Vespurath's sage-shadowed 'ridges, Tatia is in mid-sentance as she appears, chattering aloud to her lifemate. "And no, you can/not/ go into the courtyard. You're only allowed on the beach. And besides, you always end up wanting to swim anyway, so you might as well just stay and see if you can get a 'lizard or two to scrub you a bit or something.. Sash! Isn't the weather /fabulous/?" The greenrider's train of thought shifts easily as Branwyth circles down to join her, and a giant grin spreads as her helmet is ripped off and she moves to slide down Vespurath's side.

Across shades of pine and sage, Tatia slides down Vespurath's side, landing on the ground with a slight bounce.

Sasha slides with great care down Branwyth's extended forearm, landing on the ground.

Killian jumps as dragons land on the bech, and backs up a pace. Jaqui gets a quiet,"Master," As he turns to eye the creatures with unnerved bemusement. Perhaps he should melt into the scenery -- they're a little big for his taste.

Whatever her lifemate's thoughts are about the weather, it appears that Branwyth agrees, a low purring of a sigh whooshing out as the darker of the two greens stretches sinuously in the heat the moment her rider is safely terrestrial.

Sasha stretches happily in the warm sun and glances over at Tatia as she leisurely peels off her leather jacket and trews. "See...I told you this was a good idea...sun, sea, sand...." She thumps Branwyth cheerfully in affectionate thanks and tucks her leathers away in a bag attached to the riding straps. A hand strays to her lifemate's eyeridges as she grins at Tatia. "What more could you want?"

Miralwyn's expression remains impassive, but a twinkle appears in her eye at Jaqui's half-hearted attempt at a lecture. "Sand on a Herbaly scroll?" she queries dryly. "Good Faranth, such a disaster /that/ would be." Indeed, she might be able to forget studying it, and read something interesting on paranoid psychosis instead. Killian making no furthur moves in her direction, she returns to reading, after sketching a nod and a "Good day, greenriders," in the direction of the arrived 'Reachians. There. Manners have been attended to now. She proceeds to ignore them all in favour of the mysteries of goldenseal.

Jaqui chuckles softly, catching herself up as Killian jumps away from the dragons, "Relax Sir," she reassures him softly, "They won't eat you, they just enjoy the sun and water on the beach as much as we do." She then turns and nods to each of the dragonriders respectfully, offering a welcoming smile as she does so. She shakes her head at Miralwyn and walks closer, tempted to take the hide from her, "Apprentice, do you /ever/ rest and leave your work behind?" Now Jaqui may not do it often, but at least on rare occasion she actually does.

/Big/? Vespurath is not /big/. As a matter of fact, she's tiny. By dragon standards, anyway. The green lowers her head, snorting playfully at the sand below her as she ponders the gathering on the beach. A flurry of sand rises into the air, earning a glare from her lifemate, who's busy plucking at her gloves before she starts on straps. "At least wait until /I'm/ away before you do that," she mutters, lifting a hand to brush bits of sand from her face. As straps fall to the ground, she nods toward Sasha. "I could do without the sand," she intones, though she's smiling as she mentions it. "/Anything/ is nicer than 'Reaches right now, Sash. It's really not hard to beat." She turns, discarding her jacket as Vespuarth moves away from fallen straps and toward the water. "Good day!" she offers in reponse to the unfamilar girl down the beach, eyes flickering over the other two. "Well.. actually, Vesp /has/ been known to eat one or two," she mentions with a grin as she moves close enough to catch Jaqui's words.

Killian gives Miralwyn a blink and a slight nod. "Uh-huh." He answers jaqui. "I know that, but if you've never been 'roun 'em, they're a little...overwhemin.". Killian's gaze narrows on Vesp's rider (not that he knows which is which) and snorts. "Doan think your weyrleader'd let ya." He answers pertly enough, but keeps an eye on thoise dragons anyayw. (Er, anyway. Darned telnet.) . Just in case, dontcha know.

Sasha smiles cheerfully in the direction of the local people who have obviously decided to spend some time sunning themselves. "Hello! Hope you didn't get too much sand blasting when the dragons landed...I'm Sasha and this is Branwyth. And my clutchmate is right...its way too cold at the 'Reaches at the moment!" She pulls out a thick towel and spreads it on the sand, rolling onto it gratefully as the sun begins to soak its way into her bones.

"Actually, I've heard that people taste rather good, if a little bony," Miralwyn weighs in on the topic of dragon dietary habits, her expression distinctly deadpan. "And I do take a rest now and again, Master Jaqui." she assures seriously, although grey eyes might just give her away. "It's called 'sleep', right?" She does, however, consent to put the scroll aside and stand, wrapping a towel about her waist in sarong fashion. Fort bikinis may be stylish, but to an Istan, this is cold weather. "I think I was outside of the scatter zone," she allows to Sasha with a wry good humour. "And I am Miralwyn, Healer apprentice. Well met, Sasha, and please, shorten my name to whatever seems apt. It's a mouthful at times."

"Who, Gid?" Tatia responds with a rather malicious twist to her smile. "I doubt he'd do a thing. After all, /his/ dragon gets him in as much trouble as Vesp does me. Besides. He's at 'Reaches, we're here. And Vesp hasn't eaten in.. how long, love?" The greenrider pauses, tossing a glance toward her lifemate, who's standing near the edge of the ocean, muzzle lowered to water level as she watches the waves come in, enthralled. Each time one comes close enough to splash at her, she raises her muzzle, sputtering, and then starts the whole buisness over again. "A sevenday," she finally finishes, nodding. "She's hungry." Well.. not really. But Tat always likes to play games with innocent people's minds. "Miralwyn.. right. I'm Tatia, that's Vesp..." At which point Killian is given an expectant glance. Jaqui's name she got from Miralwyn's words.

Jaqui looks rather chagrined and tries to swallow the laugh that rises on her voice both in reponse to the greenriders snip about her dragon eating people, and to the young man's answer about how dragons are overwhelming. Sure, they are big, and can be a bit intimidating, but most this Master's interacted with have been quite friendly. She gives a small wave to Sasha as she introduces herself. "Master Jaqui," she returns, "on a very rare bit of time away from my office." With that she grins and flips a run away bunch of hair back over her shoulder, really not being used to having it down much anymore. She grins at Miralwyn, glad to see the girl set the scroll aside, everyone needs a little break, when they /aren't/ sleeping.

Branwyth very politely indeed marches over towards Sasha, and hangs her head down to whuffle at her shoulder, delicately avoiding stepping on the toes of the people present. Or perhaps stepping on the people, period. Another whuffle, and a pointed look at the straps still adorning her, before she settles into an expectant crouch.

Killian's lis actually twitch. "I'm sure the herders wouldn't mind if h -- she, rather...got a herdbeast from the herds?" Nope, won't convince him that dragons eat people. 'Sides, Killian's too scrawny. "I'm Killian," He notes absently, to all and sundry. since everyone else is admitting they have a name, he'll say it, too.

Sasha rolls over onto her front and burrows her fingers into the sandenjoying the slightly cooler temperature found there, as her skin begins to pinken slightly. "Well met Wyn....will that do?" she raises a brow as she hears the name of the Master healer and swallows slightly. "Master Jaqui...I didn't realise...its been a while since I wore my healer knot.." she looks nervously at the older woman and smiles. "I'm sure I've seen you at a distance, but I've never had the pleasure to speak with you." And then, her eyes widen again as she realises that in her awe of being finally introduced to the Master of her old craft, she has completely forgotten to remove Branwyth's straps..."Here my love..." she apologises leaping to her feet...Let me get these off you...". As the straps fall she curls up again on her warm towel and casts a smile across at Killian "Well met Killian!"

Miralwyn offers Sasha a slight smile, her eyes still twinkling. "Wyn would do admirably." she notes. "That is what I usually go by, in any case." Her scroll abandoned, she's left without anything to fidget with, as nebulous social graces begin to fail her. Small talk, life's blood of society, and bane of our girl Wyn's existance. She settles for worming her toes in the sand, much as Sasha is doing. Ah! Killian has yet to be greeted. She can do that. "Well met to you, Killian. From anywhere around here?"

Jaqui grins softly and nods as each person introduces themselves. She gives a blanket, "Well met" to all present as she watches with humor in her eyes the antics of dragons. She grins at the nervousness of Sasha as she shakes her head, "Sometimes I spend too much time inside my office. I need to get out more." she says with a wink and then she walks over away from where she was and settles down onto her own spot on the beach, enjoying the warming rays of the sun. She rests quietly, watching the others and the dragons also enjoy the sun.

Killian studies Miralwyn carefully a long moment. So -- she knows the Jaqui-person. He nods again -- a gesture he seems rather fond of -- and replies, soflty,"No. 'M not." He hunkers down, fingers finding warm sand. "Not from 'round here a'tal."

Tatia glances at Sasha, amused. "Sasha, dear. You haven't been a Healer for at least six Turns now. Honestly." Tat would /never/ get nervous around a StarCraft Master. But then.. Tatia never really had proper respect for such people when she /was/ a StarCrafter. "Well met, everyone, I'm sure." After all, it's warm, there's sun.. Tat's in a good mood. She falls silent for a moment, simply watching - or perhaps exchanging words with the green behind her? Most likely the latter, since the green suddenly slithers along the beach quite happily, stopping only once she's settled into proper looming position behind Tatia's shoulder. She stays there only a moment before shoving her way past so she can... sniff at Kellin's toes? Or maybe.. she's trying to /nibble/ them? The green evidently has the same sense of humor as her rider. Evil.

Milique glides in from the courtyard.

Oooh, Pairs Looming, the latest Olympic Event! Or not. In any case, Branwyth still lurks over and around Sasha's shoulder, peering curiously at the people, and giving a loud and curious snort in the direction of Jaqui. She /smells/ nice enough. Eyes whirl quickens as she relays her findings to Sasha.

Sasha grins slightly as she chuckles at Tatia's comment and shrugs slightly. "Still I always said I'd get back into the healer side of things...I know I can't actually change rank within the craft, but its would be good to update my skills a bit...especially now I have more time on my hands..." Her eyes glaze slightly, a sure sign that her lifemate is talking to her and she grins up at Bran..a silent exchange quickly taking place. "Where do you hale from Killian?" she adds with a friendly smile.

Jaqui chuckles as a hand goes up with a grin to stop the flow of air coming from the snorting dragons, but she doesn't look upset at all. She just grins around at the assembled group and slips her own sandles off, digging her toes deeply into the sand. She sighs happily, being reminded of her childhood at Southern by the warmth and time at the beach. She is glad that Miralwyn has set aside the scroll and is trying to enjoy the day. Her eyes dance from person to dragon and around, enjoying the antics.

Miralwyn, now robbed of the next question she was going to ask, settles for wriggling her toes in the sand and letting her gaze dance curiously from Branwyth to Killian to Vespurath and elsewhere, something approaching ease settling in her stance as she takes in the once-familiar lines of dragon conformation. Standing about and doing nothing being mostly a new experiance for her, she changes to sitting and tracing patterns in the sand with a driftwood twig, still eyeing the little crowd with private interest.

Killian glances sidewauys at sasha, thoughtfully. "er. Fort." Yeah, thataways. Sort of. He scrunches a little more, then turns his attention back to Miralwyn -- most especially the toe worming. Interesting.

Vespurath croons lowly as she raises her attention from toe-nibbling to bring her eye-level with the boy. One slowly whirling eye watches him, rather closely, as he attempts to answer. Hi there. Behind her, Tatia is making no effort to hide her amusement at the situation, obvious from her grin and the sparkle of her eyes. "Aw, look, Sash. Vesp's made a new friend," she intones with malicious glee before her eyes drop to the slightly bored looking Miralwyn. "What.. you're not afraid one might not be enough and she'll eat you second?" she teases toward the healer.

July walks in from the courtyard.

Sasha chuckles irrepressibly..."Hey Killian...I should watch yourself...that last time Vesp tried to make a new friend, she took him home to keep in her weyr and talked to him every day...and he was only a crab...." She glances at Branwyth suddenly to see if her dragon shares her clutchmate's interest...and then her attention is drawn back to the other healer. "Yes! Dragons have big appetites..." she giggles.

Killian turns his head, slightly -- eyeing the dragon somewhat warily. "Er. Hi." what does one say to a creature whose head would be bigger than him standing, let alone crouching./ "What's she want, anyway?" He asks, curous. I don't have any food."

Miralwyn eyes Tatia with a look of puzzled inquiry, adding a couple finishing touches to her sand sketch of a firelizard dive-bombing a harried looking journeyman healer. She wipes it away with a quirk of a grin at her handiwork before once again looking up at Tat. "Really," she intones, sounding just a touch amused. "I'm not frightened at all." She is, after all, used to her father's brown lump breathing down her neck.

Jaqui drops back where she is sitting to prop herself up on her arms, sighing softly as her toes dig into the sand, and her body soaks up the sun which she has not spent nearly enough time in of late. Especially considering how dark skinned she was at a younger age. She grins at Killian, watching him react to the intensity of dragonic scrutiny while not being quite so sure of himself, but whether the unsurity is from the people around, the dragons, or both, it is unclear. She chuckles at his greeting of the dragon, she can't help it, as she winks towards Miralwyn, knowing the girl is weyrbred and thus not uncomfortable around the beasts.

July goes home.

Branwyth rumbles quietly, perhaps at a private joke between rider and lifemate, and then adds her scrutiny to that of Vespurath, throwing in a snuffle for good measure. Simply because it's amusing to watch hair fluffing in the artificial breeze.

"You /are/ food," Tatia replies happily before her smile is replaced by an instant, vehement frown. "Do /not/ mention that.." But her low hiss is too late, and Vespurath is suddenly keening. /Loudly/. And her lifemate is likely getting a mindful of desperate cries. Poor Hermie. Sasha is now regarded angrily, and a few moments are spent with Tatia scratching at her lifemate's eyeridges in an effort to calm her. Finally, the green subsides, and as Tatia steps back to glare at Sasha a bit more, she decides to test Miralwyn's statement. By nibbling at her toes, of course. "Sasha. I /hate/ you." That from Tatia.

Killian claps his hands over his ears. "Sharditall," he moans, and scrambles away, a little. "What's wrong with ehr?"

Sasha grins slightly, unperturbed by Tatia's outburst and tosses over "So whats new? You've hated me for ages...doesn't affect our friendship though..." she adds as an aside to the others on the beach. " And I thought the crab was cute!"

Miralwyn wrinkles her nose at the suddenly earsplitting noise from Vespurath, but refrains from poking her fingers in her ears. Instead, she clenches them at her side until the racket subsides. "Crab?" she queries, looking slightly baffled, before the greenie's inspection of her toes commences, and she stares pointedly at her. "Nibbling is acceptable, but further sampling would be rather hard on me, I'm afraid." she points out, whether to dragon or rider or both is anyone's guess. "And if I was in the infirmary having stitches done, I wouldn't be able to help scrub you later on, if you wanted me to." Mindhealers apparently find talking an answer to everything, it appears. She wiggles her toes.

"/Sasha/.. shut /up/" Tatia's voice is anxious, irritated, and angry as she directs it toward her lifemate. "Or I'll make sure to bring Bran a useless, slimy pet home.. no, love, I didn't mean that Hermie was slimy.. of course not... go back to.. eating their toes or something.." Tatia's babeling shifts from Sasha to Vespurath, who lifts her head to eye her lifemate, then dips it obediently back down. At which point Tatia sighs in relief and glances at Killian. "Mourning for a sharding /crab/," she points out in a huff. "Who she doesn't even remember." The green just plucks guilty thoughts from Tat's mind and plays them to an extreme. "/Please/ don't ask.. Please." But Vespurath doesn't seem to be paying attention... she's now whuffling at Mirawlyn's knees, quite enjoying the challenge. What's scrubbing compared to the amusement of nibbling?

Terraverte> Images from Milique suggest: << Ohh big lizzards! >>
Tatia *erms. Clutchmate in the beginning there, not lifemate.

Jaqui bites her lip as eyes twinkle with amusement at Killian's reponse to the green's upset keening. She is very loud, and the healer cringes slightly herself, but it is still entertaining to watch. She watches Tatia get rather upset at Sasha for the comment and raises an eyebrow, interesting this is. At Sasha's comment the Master clamps a hand over her mouth, trying to keep in her laugh. No sense in offending Tatia while she's at it. She can't help but to laugh however at Miralwyn's dialog with the green about nibbling but not sampling further.

Killian snorts sardonically. "A /crab/. Yuck." He wriggle shis fingers a little, and grins at the going-over Miralwyn's toes is getting. "She's not going to really eat her toes, I hope. It'd be rather hard for the poor girl to walk."

Sasha just giggles, content in the knowledge that she still manages to bring a happy frown to Tatia's face occasionally...what are clutchmates for afterall? "Vesp for goodness sake...if youwant to scare away all lifeforms, crustacean or otherwise just keep doing that...!" a friendly wink is given to Jaqui, and then a soft smile is awarded to Branwyth who still sits serenely surveying the scene.

Miralwyn continues staring at Vespurath as her inspection continues. Either a deer-in-the-headlights response or some strange form of 'chicken' seems to be keeping her perfectly still as the snuffling continues, blowing at the hem of her towel turned sarong. "Is there any particular reason that my knees are so fascinating?" is her next inquiry. "I know they aren't terribly ugly knees, but I don't find them that intriguing myself. And they'd probably be even less tasty than toes, you know. All that cartilage." See, Jaqui, she's been studying her anatomy scrolls too! She appears to ignore the other onlookers.

"My thoughts exactly," Tatia remarks dryly.. and loudly. Too loudly. Vespurath turns back to Killian, head swinging menacingly as she looms closer until she's able to breathe down on him. Not only is he complaining about her nibbling, but he called Hermie /gross/? She snorts in draconic derision for a momement before suddenly becoming distracted, and her head swings to eye Branwyth as she offers a low, questioning croon.

Branwyth senses Vespurath's tones suddenly expload in bursts of excited starbursts, flowering to light the darkness as she links to Branwyth. << Ohhh... look. Can you tell? Do you /think/? >> The green's vague words are suplimented by spiraling images of rounded orbs, glinting with light as they tumble through the mindlink to settle, neatly cushioned at last in the sand of the Reaches hatching cavern. Eggs. And in front of them, a blurry white-robed figure.

Branwyth observes the scene of Healer Apprentice and Green Dragon with a lazily indolent fascination, eyes whirl sharpening slightly at a draconic query, and she too, leaning forward to snuffle consideringly.

Jaqui snorts at the dragons response to Killian's comment about the crab. She grins at Sasha's wink and then laughs at Miralwyn "Yes Miralwyn, I can see you know your healer information. How could not," she teases with sparkling eyes as toes dig a deeper hole, "with all the studying you do." Jaqui does after all notice these kinds of things occasionally. Dragon is given a sideways look and a shakes of the head as the Master sighs softly but then grins.

(Branwyth) I bespoke Vespurath with: Branwyth shimmers lazy sundrenched beaches and ocean breezes, suddenly spiralling down into a complex tangle of thought, little silver lightning bolts of puzzling escaping from the roiling mass, until the storm of considerations clears, leaving an enhanced version of Vespurath's vision in its' place. A healer-girl face has been added to the figure, accompanied by a firm and emphatic <<Yes.>>

Miralwyn doesn't take her eyes off the continued inspections of Vespurath, and squeaks slightly as the added snuffling from Branwyth tickles her, but does reply dryly to Jaqui that "Journeyman Erik /did/ tell me when I was accepted that I was to be dilligent in my studies... Simply being a good apprentice?"

Branwyth senses Vespurath spirals slow images toward the other green, replacing the Healer with the Fort boy, tentative sparks surrounding him. << Yes? >> The images further continue, pictures of the healer this time, surrounded by a picture of an infirmary plucked from Tatia's mind, leaning over a rather obviously pregnant woman - the only knowledge the green really has of healerish things. << Yes. >> Well. That cleared things up.

Tatia frowns faintly, all conversation from her end ceasing as she eyes her lifemate, who is sending gazes from Branwyth to Killian and back again. She's eavesdropping, you see, and Tat can really only do one thing at a time. Vespurath snakes backward suddenly, head weaving toward Branwyth as if the pair are holding an important, private conference. Nevermind that it's all mental and only their riders can hear, anyway. Tatia, for her part, lifts her brows and stares at Sasha.

Jaqui coughs and shakes her head, "Yes, well Journeyman Erik does have a tendancy to bury himself in his hides as well." She glances around, it's not like the journeyman ever sees the sunshine anyhow, but just have to make sure. She shakes her head again, thinking she's glad she's not the one being whuffled by the dragons, not that she minds, she's been whuffled plenty of times by dragon breath.

Sasha raises a brow lightly at this comment...watching Branwyth and Vespurath all the time with a slight chuckle. "All work and no play makes a healer keel over...." she notes. Yup...Healerlore according to Sash! "What are those dragons up to?!" she enquires all of a sudden, her eyes meeting Tatias quizzically.

Killian frowns slight;ly, eyeing Tatia suspicously. "What's going on?" He akss, bluntly.

(Branwyth) I bespoke Vespurath with: Branwyth considers the Fort lad as well, approving, but with a codicil of wafting woodsmoke hazing the image. <<He is good. But not for this time. Another.>> Thoughts of the hardening eggs intrude, soft amusement trailing the images as she ponders the tangled relationship of sire and dam. Snippets of overheard conversations featuring Mindhealer jokes, obviously taken literally by the darkling green, can be overheard in the background as she muses that <<We might need a human of her sort.>>

Milique Chitters away hungrily wondering where the food is.

Miralwyn sighs slightly as the draconic investigation eases abruptly, and inspects her toes with a close gaze, checking to see that all are where they belong. Engrossed in smoothing out her towel-sarong, she either fails to catch, or fails to remark on the sudden undercurrents on the beach.

Milique glides off the beach towards the courtyard.

Jaqui sits up now, pulling her feet out of the sand and tucking them up underneath her as she watches the dragons whuffle the younger two on the beach, glancing towards the riders and then back to the other two. Hmmm. She watches Miralwyn closely for a moment and then turns to study Killian, before glancing questioningly towards the riders.

Suddenly without warning, at least not to any human in the near vicinity, it is Branwyth not Vespurath that suddenly is galvanized into action as she sinuously curls a tail around...not Sasha, but the healer knotted girl sitting on the beach. Whuffling at her lifemate for a moment as if to say <<Please....this one...this one...I promise not to keep her in the weyr like Vesp kept Hermie>> she turns her attention to Miralwyn crooning to Vespurath to join her....

"Well. I'd say they've come to a consensus," Tatia drawls in slow amusement as she reponds to Sasha before turning toward Jaqui. "Master, would you mind if we stole one of your apprentices away from you?" she questions as Vespurath croons happily in the background.

Jaqui sighs and shakes her head, "Who am I to disagree with a dragon's choice?" she asks as she rises to her feet, brushing the sand off of her clothes as she does so. She turns to Miralwyn and with a smile and a look that wishes the girl luck she bows before the apprentice, "You are free to go Miralwyn if you so wish, for the dragon gets what the dragon chooses. If you go, I wish you the best of luck, and can only hope if you are not choosen on the sands that you will return to your studies at a later time."

From within a muffled coil of green dragon tail, a dignified tone can be heard. Classic Miralwyn. "I thank you very much, all of you. It's a great honour." A pause, and an almost plaintive "But I wonder if I might be permitted to change first?"

Jaqui coughs and chokes on her laughter, losing it and giving a loud laugh, "What's the matter Apprentice," she teases, "Do you not wish to travel as you are?" her eyes dance in their teasing nature, the usually quite and much more serious Master quite enjoying her day off.

Sasha blinks as Branwyth's darkling form curls about the body of a prospective candidate. "You are a dark one Branwyth...never letting me know what you were up to until the last minute!!" She shrugs at Tatia. "Good job we came really...or do you think it was the idea of the dragons in the first place?" Turning to Miralywn, she grins lightly. "Our dragons obviously want you.. are you happy to come to High Reaches Weyr and stand at the next hatching?" The formal asking had to be done..even if its a little late..." And hey...keep the bikini...it might come in handy on the sands...I always found those robes really uncomfortable after a while...!" a teasing smile is tickling her lips.

"And I heard one of the candiates lost hers at the last, didn't they Sash?" Tatia responds with a short grin as she leans absently against Vespurath's neck, one hand in her pocket as she watches the girl. "Go on, then.. be quick about it."

Branwyth simply hums a trifle smugly, and noses at the latest Candie with a proprietary air, at last letting her go to don more travel-worthy attire.

Sasha also takes the opportunity to slip into her leathers again..no flying ::between:: in her swimming kit for Sasha either..."From what I heard..." she nods cheerfully as she tugs the fastenings closed.

Miralwyn steps out of the constrictor-like tangles of tail, and sketches an attempt at a bow. Wyn doesn't /do/ the curtseying thing. "Again, I would be honoured," she repeats Sasha-wards, before darting over to her satchel, removing four fat scrolls, and tugging slacks and shirt on over top of the bikini. The scrolls are about to be returned, when she glances over at Jaqui. "Ah, should I give these to you, Master, or can I keep them and not get behind on my studies while I'm gone?" Apparently she intends to return sans dragon.

Tatia smirks faintly as a nudge from Vespurath forces her to stand upward, and another sends her toward the straps. "I'm going, already... honestly. /You/ wanted to swim, remember," she points out in a mutter to the green even as straps are snapped on and jacket reclaimed. "Keep /up/ on your studies?" Miralwyn is eyed is disbelief. "Dear. You're going to be a /candidate/. Trust me on this - that means little to no free time." Not to mention - why do more work than you have to?

Sasha indicates Vespurath. "I'd gladly offer you a lift, but Bran and I have to go back via Tillek - a few jobs that need doing before we can go home. " she chuckles a little. "Just don't let Vesp eat her on route!!" She deftly reattaches Branwyth's riding straps and then happy with the fit, she pulls herself up onto her dragon's foreleg. "See you at the Weyr then, candidate!"

Miralwyn clutches the scrolls to herself a little more tightly, and then pointedly drops them into her carrysack. "They say the same thing about apprentices. I'll make time." she decrees serenely. Why do more work? It's a Wyn thing. All mindhealers are crazy, don't you know. She adjusts her satchel, and nods. "Well, I suppose I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Thank you so much, Master Jaqui, and would you let Jathen know where his mentee's run off to...?"

Tatia lifts a hand, waving it through the air. "Don't worry, Sash.. much as I dislike candidates, I won't. Up you go, then."

You climb up shadowed hide to settle between Vespurath's slender 'ridges.
