Welcome to my Home on the Web!

Hello, it's February 2007 and I'm *finally* updating my website! Since I last updated it in June 2002, I've done lots of things. Since January 2006 I've been living in Japan, mostly on Shikoku Island in Kagawa-ken. Right now I'm living somewhere between Tokyo and Yokohama.

During 2005 I studied High School Teaching at Curtin University in Perth, and in 2006 worked as an English teacher to Japanese children in Japan. Now, in 2007, I am seeking work as an English teacher in TOKYO or YOKOHAMA.

In my previous existence I worked with computers!

I have about 10 years experience in the computing industry. I have a mixed skill set of Unix, Windows NT, TCP/IP, networking, Cisco, security, firewalls, proxies, Netscape Suitespot servers etc.

Between December 2000 and July 2001 I was working with www.civista.com, a wireless technology startup. My role involved Solaris and Cisco firewall and networking support. My responsibilities also took me to work in Spain. Prior to this I spent six months in London working as the eOperations Manager within the Xerox Europe Internet Business Team. In early 2000 I gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Telecommunications Management at Murdoch University, Perth, Western Australia.

In 2006 I moved to Japan, in 2005 I lived in Perth, in 2004 I lived on Christmas Island, and in 2003 I lived in the States for a little while.

During 2002 I toured around Australia on my Suzuki DR650SE road/trail motorbike.

Between February and September 1999 I worked in Marlow (just out of London) as a Tier III computer contractor with EDS/Xerox.

During late 1999 I travelled around as an independent traveller in southern Africa. In September '99 I flew to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. From there I caught a bus to Johannesburg, where I bought an old Mercedes and then drove around Victoria Falls, Hwange National Park, through Zambia and Malawi, and down to Cape Town. Amongst other things I spent a week horse riding in the Mavuradonha wilderness, went on a canoe expedition along the Zambezi river through Mana Pools National Park, and did some sight seeing at Kariba dam.

At the beginning of 2000 I studied at Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia. After this I returned to London, where I lived and worked in Hemel Hempstead for six months, and then in Teddington for seven months.

After leaving London I visited numerous cities including Paris, Moscow, New York, Rome, Venice, Sydney and Los Angeles. Over the last six months I've visited my friend Jaime in Gothenburg, Sweden, cycled around Copenhagen, Denmark, been on an Initiatives of Change (aka Moral Re-Armament) conference in the Swiss Alps, seen several of the most famous and historical cities of Italy, been on tour around Manhattan, visited Mexico and Hollywood, ridden a motorbike around Raratonga, the capital of the Cook Islands, been sea kayaking and snow skiing in New Zealand, done some surfing in Surfer's Paradise and been four-wheel driving, motorcycling and trekking through around Australia.

A highlight was the nine days I spent cycling mostly around Northern Ireland. Starting in Belfast, I rode to Ballycastle, sat and watched seals and birds frollicking in the wilds of Rathlin Island, cycled out to Bushmills, the world's oldest licensed whiskey distillery, trod in the footsteps of giants along the Giant's Causeway, strolled around the walls of ancient Londonderry (aka as Derry and Freederry), visited Dublin and saw 5000 year old burial mounds at Newgrange. These are older than StoneHenge and the Pyramids of Geza, and yet have been ingeniously lined up to catch the first light of the winter Solstice!

In 1996 I spent three months in India and Nepal, and two months in England, Scotland, Ireland and Spain, where I ran with the bulls in Pamplona.
