Unfortunately my camera wasn't working for the first couple days of my stay. I spent a day at Universal Studios in Hollywood and looked at just about every exhibit and went on almost every ride. However, sorry, no photos!
When I was in Hollywood Hills one day I took a picture of the smog in LA to the South. I am just to the right of the famous Hollywood sign.
I found Venice Beach a fascinating place. Strolling on a Sunday afternoon, I found here a strange mix of characters - astrologers, massagists, tarrot card readers, buskers, body builders, rollerbladers, cyclists. One man is selling didgeridoos, another is writing screeds of "stream of consciousness" information, another offers "straight talk" (I talked to him for half an hour or so), this one is protesting meat eating and publicising the horrific things that happen to innocent animals in the name of food and science. One particularly anti-Bush woman was distributing Gore badges and collecting a petition to have the Supreme Court that installed Bush impeached. The man next to her was offering information to combat the "barbaric" practice of male circumcision (as people walked past he put his hands between his legs and said "Circumcision. It's a sore issue!" A black man was explaining why there's a pyramid on the American dollar bill, whilst another was holding a sign saying that there are terrorist bases in London. Meanwhile, a rough sleeper slept through the show along with his dog, surrounded by his handcart containing all his worldly possessions.
I can see why Jim Morrison of the Doors used to sleep here.
