Photos in Chicago Nov. 2001

Union Station (Amtrak Train Station in Downtown Chicago)
Several movies were filmed here: Untouchables, My Best Friend's Wedding
Going out of this station, you'll see the tallest tower, just one block
away.

This is the famous SEARS Tower. Tallest structure in Chicago.
Its open to the public now for viewing. But we did not go
up there. It was cloudy and we have to pay entrance fee for
the observation deck. John suggested that we visit the 2nd tallest
building, Hancock Tower. Its in one of the pictures below.

Another shot of the Sears Tower. The highest point in Chicago.

The one in the middle is John Hancock Tower. 2nd tallest building in
Chicago. In the 94th floor (I think I remember the floor right)
is a restaurant/bar and on a clear day, the sight of
City of Chicago and Lake Michigan is what people go
to see.

Somewhere in Downtown. This is Chicago Tribune
building. The specialty of this building are
the rocks. The irregular rocks in the building,
were taken from different parts of the country
and elsewhere in the world.

City of Chicago. The skyline is beautiful. The body of
water is Lake Michigan. It extends from Chicago to
Canada. During winter, this water is solid ice!!!! I didn't
see it. But I sure want to see it some day.
Notice the two tallest structures. SEARS Tower and Hancock Tower.

Its a private plane, flying low.

Chicago, the Windy City. The weather here changes
so quickly. This picture was taken a few hours apart
from the pictures below and above it. And notice
the wind blowing through me at the next picture.

So what did I come to Chicago to visit? I have no idea.
So when John asked me what I wanted to visit, I
said the Planetarium. So here we are. The ADLER
Planetarium (at the back). And here is where I met
Mr. Copernicus. Who is he? He said the Earth is not at the
center of the Universe. I knew that. But I didn't
know he was black. Ha ha... I know, I know. Its just a statue.

Now, here's John and me and The Rooster.
What's the Rooster for? Both of us are Roosters in Chinese Horoscope.
Each of the 12 horoscopes has a statue like this one here
in Chinatown.

Chinese food. Yummy yummy... And definitely in Chinatown....
Friends of John in Chicago. Everyone here
are from Manila. And everyone here likes
Chinese food and talks English and Tagalog.... :-)

John and his condo. I mean the door to his condo.

And look who's guarding the door. Nero, John's pet.
Whenever we took Nero out for a walk along Downtown Chicago,
he's so popular, attracting people's attention.

Sports car.... Woooo... hooo...... This is John's car...
Fancy, fancy.

Take a look at the interior. Style. It even has
a seat warmer. Press one of the buttons
there, and it warms the seat. Good to use
during winter. And stick shift? Yeah,
it's 5-speed stick shift.

John and Mr. Copernicus. Would u believe John and
I were classmates in grade school in Manila. We
went to the same high school and college too, but
different sections and courses. And when was
the last time we saw each other? 10 years ago!!!
Couldn't believe we will meet in Chicago.

Here's one of my good friends too. Jojo.
Here's a link to his ordination as a Deacon.
He's going to be ordained as a Priest
on Dec. 15 in a church in Chicago. This guy is
a hardworker. Double degree in Engineering and now
a Priest!!!! How would we have thought that he'd become a priest
when we were in college 10 years ago???

So I've visited my friends. Now I wanted to visit the NBA Legend,
Michael Jordan. And where is he? Now that he's playing for
Washington, I guess I would can find some signs of him in Uniter Center.
And yeah, I found him, hanging around somewhere at the side entrance.
This time of the year? Its the circus that is showing inside.
Wrong timing. Maybe I'll see him in person in
Houston or San Antonio instead.
