Our history is replete with stories of heroism by our youth. Jose Rizal, our national hero, himself, is in the prime of his youth when he committed himself to the cause of his motherland. Andres Bonifacio kept his family after the demise of his parents. His youth has not hampered him from supporting his siblings. Emilio Aguinaldo became municipal mayor of Kawit when he was in his early twenties. Contemporary time has also witnessed outstanding youth leaders who were able to hold ground against the bias of the older generation. In fact, the organization of the Young Legislators Association of the Philippines is a testament to the growing influence of the youth on a critical area of governance.
