The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
5th Annual Hometown Throwdown
Sorry this has taken so long to post. I know you've been waiting for some stuff so here you go. This year's Throwdown was kind of a best of year. We had many great bands from the past resurface to rock out the Middle East. It, of the four I have been to, sounded the best. Barry, John and the rest of the sound crew had everything on point. It was amazing. All of the bands were terrific (some more than others) and so were the boys. This was the first Throwdown since Kevin's departure. Vegas and Dennis made up for his absence and Shods guitarist Dave Aaronoff played keyboards all five nights. Nate was on fire as he performed some metal guitar riffs which left the rest of the band in awe. He also sang on "Cowboy Coffee." Of the nights, I believe Wednesday was the best as the band whipped out some crazy crap ("The Cave," "Toxic Toast") and ended with two covers -- "Think Again" and my favorite, "Cavity Creeps." There weren't too many surprises throughout the week but the Bosstones did bust out some old favorites like "I'll Drink To That," "The Bartender's Song," "Devil's Night Out" and "Almost Anything Goes." The boys also changed up the beginning to "Drums and Chickens" with a new heavy intro. The new line sung by Dicky is the really fast bit near the end of "Bad in Plaid." I'll have to check.
Below is the links to the picture pages so give 'em a whirl!

The Throwdown grab bags would not have been possible without the help of many, many businesses who donated tons of crap for us to give away. Jay and Jeff Palkevich would like to thank all of the kids who helped us put the bags together, the Suffolk University Police for letting us illegally sign people in, the 150 Tremont Street mail room and Maureen Owen, Hellcat/Epitaph Records, Joe Sib and Sideone/Dummy Records, Too Hep Records, Mojo Records, Timebomb Records, Nitro Records, Velvel Records, Kung Fu Records, BIB records and Bim Skala Bim, Serial Killer, Levi's, JSR Merchandising, Vans, Reef, Vagrant Records, View Askew Productions, Beatville Records, BYO Records, Burton Snowboards, Sector 9 Skateboards, Bareback Skateboards, Blade Board and Skate and Sean Fuel and the many other sponsors who hooked us up with tons of crap.
Except for Mercury who didn't send us anything.
