Stats:Rem has long black hair and brown eyes, and is possibly of Asian descent. Rem was a member of the Project Seeds crew, the colonists who made the journey from Earth 130 years ago. Rem joined the mission after the death of her boyfriend Alex (or Eriks, depending on your translation). He taught her to face her mistakes and make them right again, and she joined Project Seeds so that she could enter the future as she is.
When
Vash and
Knives were found by the crew, Rem saved them from being killed by others because they werent human. As the boys grew, she became like a mother to them, teaching her philosophies and love of life. Vash was deeply affected by her teachings, and much of his personality is based on the lessons he learned from her when he was a child.
When Knives changes the Seeds ships to crash land on a barren planet, Rem takes the boys to the escape pods. Before they are about to leave, however, Rem decides that she has to go back and try to save the sleeping colonists who are still on board the ships. The escape pod leaves with Rem still on the main ship, which explodes as Vash watches from the window. Before she died, Rem was able to change the course of the ships, and instead of crashing they land safely on the planet surface.
The most important aspect of Rems character is the effect that she had on Vash. 130 years after her death, he still loves her and is utterly devoted to her teachings and her memory. Because of her, he believes that every life is sacred, and that no one has the right to take the life of another. It was Rem that gave Vash his tongari hairstyle, which explains why he hasnt changed it in 130 years.
Other:Rem loves flowers, especially red ones. Her favorites are geraniums.
