MARTINA IN AWE
Martina McBride
says they're hoping for at least 5 singles off 'Emotion' to
carry her through the rest of the year. There You Are is only single #3.
Loretta Lynn just shot her very first solo video ever last week. She asked
Martina, Chely Wright and Reba and a few others to be in the video. Martina
says it should be out soon. Martina also says that she still is in awe of
Reba when she performs. McBride says it doesn't matter if it's in concert or
on an award show 'she's such a great performer she just blows me away!'

IT'S A BIG DAY FOR MARTINA AND LORETTA
Martina McBride and
Country Music Hall of Fame member Loretta Lynn meet again this afternoon on the stage of
the Grand Ole Opry. Martina and Loretta are among the acts set to kick off the Opry's
series of Tuesday matinee shows. It's an especially big day for both singers since Loretta
hosted the induction ceremony when Martina officially became an Opry member in 1995.
Explaining that Loretta is one of her musical heroes, Martina admits, "I don't get
starstruck very easily. Around her I sit there with my mouth open, and I don't know what
to say." There should be no shortage of
Martina's friends attending today's shows since the Opry is offering a special discount
for members of her fan club. The Opry's matinee shows are taking place every Tuesday
afternoon through August 8th. (T-100)
MARTINA RAISES THE BIG BUCKS
Martina McBride's annual
Celebrity Auction to benefit the YWCA's domestic violence and youth programs was a huge
success last week during Fan Fair. Raising over $39,000, the auction featured tons of
items donated by country stars, including hand written lyrics to Martina's "Love's
The Only House" single, which alone raised $3,100. Another top dollar items included
a guitar signed by 53 artists that went for $1,700. Marty Stuart donated a black and white
photo that he took of Martina when she played the Opry. Marty and Martina both signed it,
and it sold for $900. Hand written lyrics to George Strait's "The Best Day,"
that also included an autographed picture and CD, raised $2,400. This was Martina's sixth
year with the auction and according to an auction spokeswoman, it was the best yet.
