THE BEST THAT SHE CAN DO
Allison Moorer's sophomore release, The Hardest Part, has been hailed as the year's best major-label country album by at least one critic. A reviewer at
Nashville's Tennessean calls the disc "extraordinary," "sonically magnificent" and "boundary-stretching." The album was released yesterday.

ANOTHER CHAPTER TO THE STORY
Allison Moorer's new album isn't always easy listening, but she says she's not bitter or cynical, just honest. Her second CD The Hardest Part traces the decline of a love affair to a shattering, murderous conclusion on the final song Cold Cold Earth. The album is loosely based on the relationship between her parents: when she was 13, her father killed her mother and then committed suicide. You won't find Cold Cold Earth on the list of cuts --
it's an unlisted 11th song on the CD,
after Feeling That Feeling Again. Moorer says Cold Cold Earth is on the record because that's bad love to the extreme, and it's hidden because that's the actual ending to the story. But she says 'If you don't want it to end that way, you can just listen to it through track 10.' (Country 105)
