ALL IN THE FAMILY
Travis Tritt's
performance gene seems to have shown up in the next generation. Tritt says when his wife
took their three-year-old daughter and
two-year-old son to the pediatrician on the same day, their daughter went
first. He says when his wife came out of the boy's appointment she found the girl up on
the counter, singing daddy's songs for the nurses. But she has a varied repertoire. Tritt
says she was also belting the ABC's. (Country 105)

SHERRIE'S HEART WAS
"RACING" LAST WEEKEND
Sherrié Austin
accepted an invitation from Opry executives and attended the grand opening of the
Nashville Superspeedway this past Easter weekend. This was a first for the Aussie who
hasn't attended a lot of sporting events, and she also found herself on the jumbo-tron
viewed by over 40,000 racing enthusiasts. Sherrié says that the experience inspired her
in ways she hadn' t expecting saying, quote, "I don't want to just watch, I want to
drive one of those things." The event was a first for Nashville as well, as it opened
the very first NASCAR facility in the state of Tennessee and welcomed the only NASCAR race
held that weekend. As for Sherrié, her current single, "Jolene," also continues "racing" up the
charts. (T-100)

PLAYBOY ASKS PATTY FOR PHOTOS
Don't jump to conclusions
when you learn that the July issue of Playboy magazine will feature photos of Patty
Loveless. It's really nothingcontroversial at all. Patty's upcoming album, Mountain Soul,
is being featured as the lead review in Playboy's music section. Patty says, quote, ""Someone left a message on my
machine, saying they needed pictures for Playboy. I thought it was a prank call and was
laughing so hard, I actually had to listen to the message again before I realized that it
was serious -- they needed pictures for Playboy! Thank heavens it's my music they're
focusing on and not my body -- I don't know that I would be the girl of the month, if you
know what I mean." (T-100)

MARY CHAPIN CARPENTER TAKES HER
"TIME"
As we've reported
previously, next month Mary Chapin Carpenter will release Time* Sex* Love*, her first studio album in five years. For fans wondering what
took her so long, Mary Chapin explains that the reason is a simple one. She says, quote, "[Until now], I hadn't been writing
anything that I was really excited about." She goes on to say that she preferred to wait until she had a group of
songs that she was really jazzed about. When the time finally came to record the album,
Mary Chapin went to London, England and she says it was the perfect setting. She adds,
quote, "I've recorded all
of my records in the same way. I went to London because I felt the time had come to put
myself in a different environment and see what that would do for me [creatively]." Time* Sex* Love* is due in stores May 29th.

record for in-store artist appearances Saturday at the Tower Records at Opry Mills.

Sherrie brought in more than previous big crowd draws Self and Toby Keith. How do you like

THE WILKINSONS SHARE WHAT THEY
"NEED"
The Wilkinsons are in
Muscle Shoals, Alabama recording their interpretation of the well-known Raffi song,
"All I Really Need," for inclusion in a unique family album to be released this
fall. They'll be joined by the Coral Reefers Band (Jimmy Buffett's band) on the track. The
album is a compilation of country artists performing their favorite Raffi songs. Raffi has
been recording and performing for the very young for over 20 years and he has reached the

royalties will be donated to The Children's Environmental Health Network, a non-profit
organization. Other country artists participating on the project so far are keith urban,
Billy Gilman, Asleep At The Wheel, Raul Malo, Kathy Mattea, LeeRoy Parnell and Marty
Stuart. As for their own music, the Wilkinsons have just released "I Wanna Be That
Girl," the first single from their next album, Shine, which is due in stores later
