CHICKS FLY HIGH WITH MORE MULTI-PLATINUM
The Dixie Chicks' album, Fly, has just been certified for sales of more than 6 million copies. The Chicks learned of the latest RIAA certification while looking forward to this week's visit to New York City for a series of appearances. The week includes tonight's performance on CBS- TV's "The Late Show With David Letterman," which will be their third time to appear on the show. The Chicks will also be performing Wednesday and Thursday during two sold-out shows at the prestigious Radio City Music Hall. By the way, Fly has spent 33 weeks on the country album charts. Their previous album, Wide Open Spaces, is on the verge of being certified for sales of 10 million copies. (T-100)

SHELBY LYNNE STRUTS HER STUFF IN NYC
Last evening at New York City's Irving Plaza, Shelby Lynne and her six-piece backing band brought the typically jaded NYC crowd to their collective senses. Coming to the stage donning black leather pants and a black vest, with a WNBA-worthy introduction from drummer JD Blair, Shelby wowed the crowd with the first three tracks off of her latest album, I Am Shelby Lynne: the urgent "Your Lies," the Memphis soul sounds of "Leavin'," and the dark textured rocker "Life is Bad." Then, after tackling the Glen Campbell song "Lineman for Country," Shelby crawled off the stage and slinked her way some 40 feet into the crowd to sing to her true fans. Shelby told the crowd joyously, "I don't like rules, thank you for helping me break some tonight," just before launching into "Black Light Blue." Not quite country, rock, or soul-just a hell of a voice and a batch of great songs that made for a fantastic evening of music. (WGAR)

SONS ARE TOURING FOR "CHANGE" TO SUPPORT NEW ALBUM
Playing off the title of their new album "Change," the Sons of the Desert are embarking on the "Spare Change Tour." The Sons will be playing for free at select dates through September 23rd, but they're placing collection buckets outside each concert venue to collect spare change from fans. The money will donated to the Sons' favorite charity, the Jason Foundation, a non-profit organization which works for the prevention of teenage suicide.  By the way, the video for the Sons' new single, "Everybody's Gotta Grow Up
Sometime,
" debuts next Wednesday on CMT's "Delivery Room." Filmed at the Nashville Shores water park, the clip features the band playing underwater, fully clothed and strumming $1,500 guitars. However, the video won't include any shots of the powerful thunderstorm that shut down the video shoot for several hours after winds knocked over lighting rigs and forced more than 50 people involved with the production to share a single dressing room trailer on the set. As for the "Spare Change Tour," the Sons kick it
off next Wednesday in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. The tour takes them to 10 other cities -- including New York City, Chattanooga and Tampa -- before it rolls to a close September 23rd in Charleston, West Virginia. (T-100)

COLLIN & BOBBIE'S NEW DUET
Collin Raye and soap opera actress / singer Bobbie Eakes sat in a Nashville studio yesterday and chatted about their new duet, "Tired of Loving This Way." It's this very week that Bobbie's character, Macy Alexander, was killed off the CBS Soap "The Bold & The Beautiful." Bobbie seemed sad to depart her 11-year acting stint, but excited to begin her country music career. "It was hard," said Bobbie when she learned she would be departing the daytime drama. "It would have been a lot harder had I not done this duet. At least I have something else to move on to." As for Collin, he wasn't so sad to learn of Macy's demise. "It really just worked out good for everybody," says Collin. "Selfishly for me, I'm glad she died because we have this record and we've got to be able to sing this together a lot. With her acting schedule, it was going to be real hard on her. Now, after she gets her album finished, she can go on the road and sing with me." Bobbie is already slated to join Collin this weekend in Los Angeles to perform the song at the Greek Theatre. Currently, Bobbie is in the midst of selecting and recording songs for her Columbia debut disc scheduled for release in the Fall of 2000. (T-100)

NEW MUSIC COMING OUT SOON
Look for a new album from Sara Evans this fall with a twist - an international edition with one track produced by Martina McBride. Evans just completed recording her third album, "Born To Fly," due Sept. 26. Evans' disc contains 12 songs, 6 co-written by the 28-year-old entertainer. Paul Worley and Evans share producer credits. The title track and debut single is currently 41 on Billboard and 38 on R&R's airplay charts. The song was co-written by Marcus Hummon, Darrell Scott and Evans. Bruce Hornsby plays on the song he wrote, "Every Little Kiss." The international version of will include a bonus 13th track, "You." This cut, co-produced by label mate McBride, marks McBride's first artist production project other than her own recordings. Evans' last album, "No Place That Far," has been certified gold by the RIAA, for sales in excess of 500,000 units.

SHeDAISY LEARNS AND GROWS
When SHeDAISY first came to Nashville in 1989 to live out their musical dreams, lead singer Kassidy was a mere 12-years-old. Ten years later, the Osborn sisters have sold one million copies of their debut album, The Whole SHeBANG. Since their first album release, the sisters say they have learned and grown. "You can't help but grow up," says Kristyn. "This album represents the last ten years that we've lived here. The next album is probably going to be a little more raw and the songs will be a little bit more grown up, because we are a little more grown up." The new record, which features a few original compositions, is a Christmas album.
