LISA ANGELLE'S DEBUT ALBUM TO BE
AVAILABLE FOR FREE DOWNLOAD
Fans of rising country
singer-songwriter-producer Lisa Angelle can now download her song "A Woman Gets
Lonely" and will be able to download her entire self-titled debut album, in two-song
bundles, every other week until Oct. 3. This opportunity comes courtesy of an
exclusive arrangement between Liquid Audio, Inc., a leading provider of software and
services for the Internet delivery of music, and DreamWorks Records Nashville, Angelle's
label. Angelle devotees should get the free, staggered downloads while they're hot,
though, because by Oct. 31 all downloaded tracks will have timed out and been disabled.
Those who miss that deadline can hear Lisa Angelle from start to finish on Oct. 31, when
the disc is scheduled for release. This is the first time DreamWorks Records has afforded
music lover the chance to hear a complete album before it's issued commercially.

PATTY LOVELESS' STRONG HEART
Patty Loveless' Strong Heart
album hits stores today. As we reported earlier, the new work comes after a year and a
half of down time for Patty. "The time off gave me some breathing room," says
Patty. "It gave me more time to spend in the studio. I got more time to work the
songs out the way I wanted them to be." The new CD features a few songs co-written by
Patty and several musical guests. Patty has been back on the road for a couple of months
now. She is set to perform at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on
September 27, Fort Wayne, Indiana on October 13 and The Grand Ole Opry on
October 14. (T-100)

NATALIE'S BERKLEE DEMOS SOLD CHICKS ON HER TALENT
According to Martie Siedel,
she and Emily knew Natalie long before they heard some of the demos from her days at the
Berklee School of music. But, those demos made them fans. "We'd known about her and
known about her family 'cause her dad's a famous steel guitar player and producer and we
used to go over to dinner at her house," says Martie. "She was a little too cool
for us. She used to skip and go on a date, she'd go out on the town and not invite us.
But, we always thought she had a great voice. We heard some demos that she had done to
audition for Berklee School of Music and we were blown away. And Emily and I both were
listening to them in our car for pleasure,
and just digging on her voice. So we hoped that she'd say yes when we asked her."

PAM TILLIS' SPECIAL NIGHT AT THE OPRY
Over the weekend, Pam
Tillis celebrated one of the three biggest highlights of her life when she was made a
member of the Grand Ole Opry. Pam explained, "Everyone has milestones in their life.
For me, those have been the birth of my son Ben, being named Female Vocalist in 1994 from
the CMA and being made a member of the Opry." Marty Stuart inducted Pam and presented
her with a special limited addition Grand Ole Opry 75th anniversary Martin guitar. Only
650 of the guitars were made and Pam received the very first one. Pam's dressing room was
filled with flowers from well wishers, including Opry member Trisha Yearwood and Pam's
father, Mel Tillis. The elder Tillis was performing at his theater in Branson, Missouri
Saturday night and could not be at the Opry. Mel is not a member of the Opry. Backstage,
Pam joked about her father's reaction when he heard of his daughter's induction, "Oh,
he was so jealous. There aren't too many things that I've done that he hasn't done first.
This is one of those strange situations where I beat him to the punch. I had hoped that
somehow we could finagle the timing so that daddy and I could become a member at the same
time. I thought that would be cool, but it didn't work out." (T-100)

NEW TERRI CLARK ALBUM
Terri Clark will release her
upcoming album Fearless on Tuesday on Sept. 19. This will be Clark's fourth release for
Mercury Nashville and will showcase a softer, more introspective side of the artist. Clark
co-wrote eight of the 12 songs on the album working with songwriters such as Mary Chapin
Carpenter, Gary Burr, Beth Nielsen Chapman and Annie Roboff. "We were more concerned
with songs that moved us," states Clark. "I wanted people to see where I was
coming from." This album is more acoustic and offers a broader view rather than the
typical "relationship" songs. The first single, "A Little Gasoline,"
is currently climbing the Country charts. (Country Cool)

SARA EVANS STARTED REAL YOUNG
Sara Evans says
she started singing at such a young age she doesn't remember it. But she does remember
learning to play Mandolin at age 4. "I think Jay (her brother) learned guitar and
Matt (another brother) learned the banjo and I started playing mandolin at four. What
first happened was they would come home and they would have their assignment to learn and
then mother would have me sing with them. Like, "Sara sing 'Mary Had A Little
Lamb'" or whatever, so they could learn their chords." Sara says she was still a
pre-schooler when she'd sing while her mother drove a bus. "My mother started driving
a school bus when I was two and later on the bus I would sing "Behind Closed
Doors" and "Delta Dawn." I was a ham. From the time I was born, I loved to
be in front of an audience or a camera. Anything that I could do to get attention."

BAD ATTITUDE
Even though Shedaisy's second
album isn't due until mid-October, the sister trio is already working on its third
release. Kristyn Osborn says the songs she wrote for the disc reflect the mood she's been
in for the past year. "We're gonna have a mean album this time," says sister
Kelsi. (Country Now)

LOVELESS TO DELIVER ALBUM
Patty Loveless and her
producer/husband, Emory Gordy Jr., have delivered a
sensational new album STRONG HEART to Epic records that hits the streets
August 29th. The album is Loveless's most diverse sounding record yet as she
successfully reinvents herself musically with a fresh collection that's innovative without
straying far from the essential Loveless that's been successful for over a decade and a
half. (One of the most unique and tasty tracks is one she and Gordy wrote together titled,
"You Don't Get More."
It's a bluesy number than came out of her own realization that you don't get
many more chances when you make mistakes in life). (Nashville Update)

NATALIE IS PREGNANT
Dixie Chicks lead
vocalist Natalie Maines and her husband, actor Adrian
Pasdar, announced yesterday that they are expecting their first child in April 2001. As
you might expect, Natalie and Adrian are ecstatic over the news, with the father-to-be
proclaiming, "This is merely the first of 10 children." Natalie and Adrian's
wedding took place June 24th in Las Vegas. The timing of the pregnancy is excellent for
fans planning to see the Chicks on their current "Fly" Tour. A total of 37 shows
remain until the tour closes October 29th in New Orleans. That will give Natalie plenty of
time to rest and prepare for the addition to her family. In the meantime, upcoming Dixie
Chicks tour dates include Thursday in Louisville, Friday and Saturday in Auburn Hills,
Michigan and Sunday in Toronto. (T-100)

PATTY REDISCOVERS HER LOVE
OF RHYTHM & BLUES MUSIC
You're in for a surprise when you hear
the bluesy side of Patty Loveless on
"You Don't Get No More," a song she and husband Emory Gordy Jr. co-wrote for her
upcoming album, Strong Heart. Like most country artists, Patty loves all types
of music, including rhythm & blues. Explaining that the tour bus isn't the best
listening environment, Patty says, "Out there on the road,
you're constantly thinking about the show and your songs. Once we were through, I would
sometimes listen to music when I'd get offstage. Sometimes, I just didn't want to hear
anything at all." Patty recently completed a year-long hiatus which gave her time to
rediscover a lot of classic rock and soul music from '50s and 60s. With Emory's help, the
listening list included Otis Redding, Percy Sledge, Little Richard and Etta James. She
says, "It gave me an opportunity to be influenced again -- or to be influenced all
over again. A lot of these artists influenced me years ago. It felt so good to be able to
sit back and enjoy it again." Don't worry about Patty turning into a pop artist. The
rest of her album features the usual collection of great country music we always expect
from her. Explaining the reason for her year out of the spotlight, Patty admits, "It
got to the point where I thought, 'Okay, I'm getting burned out here. I need some time
away for a while'." Pointing out that she has been singing
professionally since she was 12, Patty says, "After a while, I think it takes a toll
on you and your body." She jokes, adding, "Especially the older you get."

SAWYER BROWN TO MAKE
FOURTH APPEARANCE AT FARM AID
Sawyer Brown has been added to list
of performers for this year's Farm Aid concert set for September 17 in Bristow, Virginia,
near Washington, D.C. The show will also feature Crosby, Stills & Nash, along with the
rock band Barenaked Ladies and Farm Aid founders Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John
Mellencamp. Longtime supporters of the American farmer, Sawyer Brown's Mark Miller
operates a very successful cattle ranch near Nashville. Mark also supervised and appeared
in a TV commercial for the 10-10-220 long distance service which raised money for Farm
Aid. At last year's concert, the band delivered a $600,000 check from the phone service
company. By the way, this marks Sawyer Brown's fourth Farm Aid appearance. (T-100)

REBECCA LYNN HOWARD SINGLE ONE SHE
ALMOST GAVE AWAY
Actually Rebecca Lynn
Howard did give away her self-penned (written with Trey Bruce) "I Don't Paint Myself
into Corners." She wanted Patty Loveless to record the song and Loveless actually put
it on hold. Luckily Patty didn't include the song on her album and Rebecca got it back.

PHIL VASSAR'S "PARADISE"
Phil Vassar's latest single,
"Another Day in Paradise," is climbing the country charts this week gracing the
top twenty. "This song is about the
trials and tribulations of everyday life," explains Phil. "It's hard to have a
family and be married. But at the end of the day, you're surrounded by the people you love
most and that is what counts." As we reported earlier, the video for "Another
Day in Paradise" was filmed in Malibu, California. These days, Phil's
"paradise" is traveling down the road in his tour bus. (T-100)

TERRI CLARK GETS "FEARLESS"
For Terri Clark, her upcoming
album is a work of "heart." Terri says, "Fearless is the most personal
album I've ever made and the most honest thing my fans have ever heard from me. Having no
fear is a challenge we all face and a goal we should all strive to achieve." The new
project kicks off with "No Fear," a song Terri co-wrote with Mary Chapin
Carpenter. "It sets the tone for the whole album," explains Terri. "That's
really what it was for me. the whole project was a fearless endeavor." The new CD
will be in stores on September 19. (T-100) |
