PHIL VASSAR CELEBRATES #1
Phil Vassar celebrated his first #1 song as an artist at a party in Nashville yesterday afternoon. What interesting is that as he celebrates "Another Day In Paradise" hitting #1 on next week's chart, the #1 song on the country charts this week is Tim McGraw's "My Next Thirty Years," which Phil wrote. "It's pretty amazing," says Phil. "I mean, to have a #1 song as an artist is pretty amazing. I've been lucky enough to have one as a songwriter, but this feels awesome." Phil admitted that he almost let his first #1 song as an artist slip away from him as Lonestar was originally set to record it for their multi-platinum Lonely Grill album. At the last minute, Phil decided to keep it for himself. Good move Phil. (T-100)

SARA TO JOIN GEORGE'S COUNTRY FESTIVAL
Sara Evans is the latest act to be added to the list of performers at the George Strait Country Music Festival. Joining George and Sara when the tour kicks off in March, of course, are Lonestar, Alan Jackson, Lee Ann Womack, Brad Paisley and Asleep at the Wheel. Sara's latest single, "Born to Fly," just jumped to No. 4 on the Radio & Records Country Singles chart. Clearly excited about joining George's tour, Sara says, "I'm so honored to be asked to join the George Strait Country Music Festival and to share a stage with such a talented lineup. This is a really great opportunity for me as an artist. I can't think of a better way to bring my music to a broader audience." Sara will find herself in front of a broad audience tonight when she makes a guest appearance on ABC-TV's "Politically Incorrect." Next Monday, Sara will be in New York City to tape NBC-TV's "Later Today" for a segment set to air later this month. (T-100)
