Chapter 13
It
was a month later and I was at home with Brian watching Ace
Ventura. Ash and Nick had gone to his parents. We were halfway
through with the movie when the phone rang. Brian picked it up.
"OK we'll be there in 5."
"What's going on?"
"Ash went into labor..."
I didn't wait for him to finish, I grabbed the car keys and ran to the car. I had to be there for my best friend. Brian ran after me and jumped in the passenger side.
I must have done 90 to get to the hospital as fast as I did but the police didn't stop us so I didn't care. I ran into the waiting room where everyone else was already there.
"How is she?"
Jane looked at me. "She's fine. They took her to the delivery room."
Brian and I sat down to wait.
2 hours later Nick ran in. "It's a girl. I'M A DAD!"
Kevin looked at Brian. "De ja vu."
Everyone laughed and headed for Ashley's room. We all crammed into the small room where Nick stood next to Ashley.
Ashley smiled at me. "Her name's Abbigaile Mellissa. After a very important person."
"Really?" I gasped.
"Yup. We want you and Brian to be the godparents."
"Oh, Wow, Sure."
Ashley was already holding Abby and she passed him to Nick so she could give me a hug.
"We gotta leave now," I told her, "so you can rest."
"Oh, Bye."
"Bye."
We filed out the door leaving Ash, Nick, and Abby in peace.
