All right. Here's the skinny on the Camp-o-rama. I recommend
that everyone make their own plans for Tues. & Wed. night directly
after the tournament, either: Waikiki, MacKenzie State Recreation Area
in Puna, Hilo, or in Volcanoes National Park (all of these are accessible
via the web). Have some fun and sightseeing and get back to Hookena
for Thurs. night. Of course, we can get the vacation rentals and
camp some people on Matt and Annabel's beach with no facilities.
Hurry and make reservations because the county parks won't let someone
else sign up
for you.
As for the Konarama:
Everyone needs to set up their own accommodations, the campground has
to
have names for reservations, Annabel can make a request for overflow.
CAMPING: www.hawaiico.com $5 per adult per night at Hookena Beach;
Matt &
Annabel and Club Puck have lots of basic camping gear such as grills,
ice
chests, tarps, tiki torches, boogie board, misc. cooking stuff and
triple
antibiotic lotion. The campground has shower and bathroom facilities.
You
need to bring camp tents, sleeping bags, dive lights and sun screen.
Hookena Beach Vacation Rental: $120 a night for a group, 4 nights minimum
decon@nows.com or (530) 272-5457 or (808) 328-1216 talk to Charlie
or Dan
Kealakekua Hostel: $17 a night per person, Pineapple Park, 15 minute
drive
from Hookena Beach, (808) 968-8170 or park@aloha.net or
http://www.pineapple-park.com
Kona Paradise group vacation rentals (where we live): $140 a night
4 night
minimum; contact Ann Hansen (808) 328-2982
Kona Paradise B&B: (808) 328-9932 Sam & Larryann
Camping is where the group events will be happening, dinners, campfire,
BYO
music, swim with wild dolphin (make your reservations early!), hangovers
etc. Get together with your teams and make group arrangements for a
rental
van, accommodations, and flights. If you order your Kona flight with
your
air package you'll get kama'aina rates. we will look into a charter
flight
and keep updates coming.
contact Matt & Annabel at taxdoc@aloha.com if you want specific
advice.
It's best to get a team plan to share a van and or a vacation rental.

==========
ALOHA!
Here is the latest and greatest in hotel information for the tournament.
Hotel blocks have been reserved at the Outrigger, "Ohana Waikiki West"
Rooms are standard kitchenette with 2 double beds. The hotel allows
up to 4
people for the same price. $60 (+11.5% tax). Yes, you read that right...$60
for up to 4 people. (That would be ~$15 each per night). I didn't see
the
rooms yet but, I think the rooms are small but this is a super
cheap price.
Plus if it is too crammed you can sleep on the beach (leave your
wallet/purse in the room) or even better stay up all night in fabulous
Waikiki.
Contact: Ms. Haunani AhNew at
toll free:1-800-325-7171 or
toll # 808-921-6870
You need to make your own reservation and payments with Haunani. This
offer
will expire 30 days before the tournament (July 27, 2001).
Location: In Waikiki. 1 block from ocean <5 min walk. < 5 miles
from pool.
This is it for accommodations since it is the cheapest option (less
than a
dorm room at the hostel). If you really want other options I may be
able to
help so contact me directly.
As for transportation: (I have no group deals on this)
- You can rent a car/van between people (suggested) and drive to Waikiki.
then you'll have quick access to anywhere on the island between and
after
games.
- You can get an airport shuttle from the airport to Waikiki
for <$10 then
walk and take taxis everywhere or rent a moped or bike in Waikiki.
We are still working on the tournament fees and details and will let
you all
know those details shortly.
Think warm thoughts!
Aloha,
Ziggy
