Rui Macher Jhol (Spiced Carp Stew)

500 Grams Rui (Carp) -- 1" slices

250 Grams Potatoes -- Dices

2 1/2 Grams Turmeric -- Paste

10 Grams Coriander -- Paste

5 Grams Cumin -- Paste

2 Grams Panch Phoran

2 Nos Bay Leaves

4 Nos Green Chillies

7 1/2 Grams Salt

2 G Chilli Paste

100 Ml. Mustard Oil

* Rub the fish with turmeric paste and a littie of salt.

* Heat oil in a karai until just brown.

* Remove the fish with a slotted spoon and fry potatoes in the same oil.

* R emove the potatoes and add bay leaves and panch phoran.

* Add turmeric, coriander, cumin and chilli paste with little water.

* Bring to boil, add the potatoes, simmer and then add the salt and the green chillies.

*Add the fried fish to the jhol and cook for another ten minutes.
