Member of the House of Burgesses in 1657-8
His home was called "Whitemarsh" (described for tax purposes in
John B. Boddie's book Virginia Historical Genealogy).
When his tombstone was found at Whitemarsh, it was placed at the foot
of the chancel of the Old Brick Church.
He was a close friend and adviser of Berkeley, the Royal Governor.
