Simeon Milner and John Milner (known as Jack Milner)
From Willis Milner's will:
"Porely of body but sound of mind and memeory,"
he left his beloved wife, Sally, a cow and calf, a bed, some furniture
and the loan of his farm, "during her being a virtuous
widow." Otherwise the estate was to be divided between his
two sons, Simeon and John Ballard (usually referred to as Jack
Milner). The little boys chose their grandfather, the Captain, as
guardian but lived on the farm with their mother. in 1802 when the
boys were "grown" and, as Willis, had stipulated, had finished
their education as "English scholars," Sally received
the final payment from the estate for the boy's board, clothes and
education. It was $29 and 14 hogs.
