Described himself as a "merchant of Bristol and Isle of
Wight" (Isle of Wight, VA)
First trip to Virginia in 1609
Returned in 1628 as captain of the privateer "Thunder"
Probably settled in Isle of Wight after his father's death.
He represented that county in the House of Burgesses, 1649-1660.
He was a member of the Governor's Council and Colonel of Isle
of Wight Militia in 1662.
Married daughter of George Stevens, who was a burgess from Surry
County, Virginia in 1652.
