The 1970 chevelle ss is without a doubt the most popular chevelle around. It was Available in two body styles, 2-door hardtop and convertible. The basic version of the ss came with a 396 cubic inch Turbo-Jet V8 engine. The engine was rated at 350hp, but a performance option of 375hp could be ordered. To transfer power to the rear wheels the ss had a Turbo-Hydramatic 400, or the "Rock-Crusher" four-speed.

Also available were several versions the the powerful 454 cubic inch v8, which is the largest engine ever placed in a Chevorlet passenger car. The normal 454 v8 was rated at 360 hp. Like the 396 V8s, these could come equipped with either a 4-speed manual shifter or the Turbo-Hydramatic 400. If that wasn't enough for you a 450 horsepower 454 cubic inch V8 was also available.
