The Luxembourg scene
Luxembourg - The green heart of Europe

Unfortunately, playing paintball is not allowed in Luxembourg, so there is no site where you could go and hire material to try it out. We are lucky though that there are four good sites in the near border region, two in France, one in Belgium and one in Germany, namely Vickring, Bockange, Grandcourt and Bitburg.

The place where I and my fellow paintball fanatics live is marked by the red zone in the south of Luxembourg, so we lie in between the four sites, they are maximum 70km from our homes and easy to reach. So that's where we play.

The four sites are quite different from one another, so here's a brief description of them :

Veckring&Bockange  The sites in Veckring and Bockange were once army bases that are  out of order for years already. Some good guys bought the grounds and made them into  paintball fields, so you have a lot of ruins (what remains of the army buildings) to play in, that's quite interesting, it is lots of fun.  They also both have speedball-fields.
In Bockange there's a shop where you can buy Paintball equipment, that site is all in all worth a visit.

Grandcourt  This site is situated in the heart of a huge forest, so it is all outdoors, and the play is very different there than in Veckring, but very interesting as well.

Bitburg  This site is said to be great as well, but I never went there so far, so I cannot yet judge that. I hope however to be soon able to give a statement about that site (after finally having played there).

We go play as often as we can, which is not very often as most of us are still students that cannot afford playing more than 1-2 times per month. But we have more and more people intersted in the game, so authorities in Luxembourg should think of allowing a site in Luxembourg too, for paintball is booming in Luxembourg - like it everywhere does. That Paintball is called "sport of the 90's" must have a few good reasons, or am I wrong?
