The Tales of Amy Aliaera
Part 1
The girl lay, in the grass, her breathing coming in short, ragged gasps. She had passed out hours ago and was trying
to remember why. She forced herself turn onto her side to see where she was and felt a surge of pain. Wincing, she slowly
looked up.
She saw that she was in a forest, broken twigs surrounding her. Birds were calling from every direction and the sun
was high in the east. Suddenly, the memories of how she got into this beautiful forest came back.
She had been in her little town Brook, just yesterday, walking to the grocery store when she had been ambushed. The
biggest and evilest gang in all of Brook, The Hounds, were the best at tracking anything from person ,to dog, to insect. They
were mostly hunters and trappers. They had falsely accused her of something and they refused to listen to her pleas of innocence.
When they had begun to advance, she ran. Ran straight into the forest. She had been running for hours when she became so tired
that she couldnt take it anymore, and collapsed.
Other than her family and a few
close friends, not many people would notice she had been gone. She wasn't the social type. She prefered to stay with her couple
of friends, and wasn't known to be very outspoken. It wasnt that nobody liked her. Everybody loved her! It was more
that she didnt really like the attention. She liked having her space and room to think. Most people in her school knew that,
and therefore, left to her herself, only talking to her if she talked to them first. Her friends thought it was almost comical.
She could just picture Riley, Kaetlyn and Christine, always laughing whenever Teri came over to talk to her. She would start
blushing and he wouldnt think twice of it, probably not even noticing. They would talk for hours if they could; or at least
Teri would talk. She would listen. Everyone in the school knew that they both liked each other, but didnt want to say anything
to each other because they seemed to be the only ones who didnt know the other liked them!
She sighed. Thinking of Teri always
made her sigh. She heard a noise behind her. She ignored it. She stood up to brush off her clothes. Her name-tag from work slowly
fell to the ground, the pin loosened by running. Amy Aliaera. She sighed
again as she bent to pick it up. She had never really liked her last name. She had always felt as though she wasnt truly an
Aliaera. Her father wasnt even an Aliaera. It was her mothers maiden name. At least, thats what she told Amy. Her mother's
parents died when Amy was young, so she never knew them. Her mother had no other relatives that she knew of. Most sixteen
year old girls knew who they were already, as well as what they were going to do with their lives. She knew neither.
Another noise came behind her. She jumped.
Slowly, very slowly, she turned around. She could see something moving far in the distance. The noises were getting louder
now. Her eyes widened and she knew what it was. They were coming.
