This is a page dedicated to the best, and the hardest-working country music group (Canadian or otherwise) that I have yet seen! In this humble dedication, I will include some bits of information about the Daughters, my thoughts on each of the albums and selected songs, some pictures from concerts that I have attended, and hopefully some song clips. I will also include links to their official website and e-mail address!! Now please sit back and enjoy the show!!
Shauna Rae Samograd hails from Innisfree, Alberta. She seems to have a
little bit of the devil in her, but that is what makes her so much
fun!! Her beautiful voice can be best heard on "Fallin' Out Of Love"
from the Girls Will be Girls album, and "Lonley Gypsy Wind",
from the Makin' Hay album.
Angela Kelman is from Brandon, Manitoba. Angela is my favorite Farmer's
Daughter!! (no offense Shauna Rae or Jake!) Angela is super-nice,
very friendly, sexy, and has an incredible voice!! I can hear her best
in "Cornfields or Cadillacs", and "Now That I'm On My Own", both from
Makin' Hay. I have to admit Angela is the one that caught my
eye when I first saw the Daughters live!
Jake Leiske is the fiery, red-haired wonder from Quill Lake, Saskatchewan.
However I do see that for the new album, and tour, Jake has decided to
add a bit of blonde to her look!! And let me tell you it looks awesome!!!
I just absolutely LOVE Jake's vocals on "Inclemency", from the
Makin' Hay album!! I myself lived in Vancouver for a couple of
years, and I know exactly how they were feeling when they wrote that
song!
This is Farmer's Daughter first CD, and the one that got them noticed
on the country music scene. The haunting song "Borderline Angel", is
about a woman doing what she has to to survive even though she hates it.
Other great songs on this CD are "Girls Will Be Girls", "Fallin' Out
Of Love", and "Calling All You Cowboys". There are now two different
cover arts on the liner notes to this CD. Which one will be a collectors
item? Not sure, but I bought both just in case!!
The sophomore album from Farmer's Daughter, and it just has several
home-run hits after another!! The first, and best song on the album
is "Cornfields or Cadillacs". Its a funny look at a woman that
wants the comforts and security of home, but also wants to break away
and head to the big city!! Other hit songs on the CD are "Lonely
Gypsy Wind", "Now That I'm On My Own", and "You Said". I absolutely
LOVE Jake's vocals on "Inclemency"! I lived in Vancouver for a couple
of years myself and I know exactly how they felt!! There is also an
awesome cover of Bobby Gentry's " The Ballad of Billie Joe".
Farmer's Daughter third effort, and in my opinion they have all the
songs they need here to make it another hit CD! The first single off
this album is "Freeway", about a woman who seems to live life to the
fullest, and how the highway or freeway symbolizes freedom. If you
get a chance to see the video for this song, you will love it! Who
would've thought our Daughters would knock over an armoured truck!!
Of course they do the smart thing and blame it on the Dixie Chicks!!
LOVE IT!! Other good songs here are "Blue Horizon", "This Is The Life",
"Ballad of Me and You", and "Little Church In Memphis". And again
great cover of BTO's "Let It Ride", and which Randy Bachman contributed
his guitar skills! And finally, on behalf of all Farmer's Daughters
fans, I would like to thank them for including "Willie" as the last
track!!
The greatest and latest from The Daughters! This CD contains some of
my (and yours too) favorite songs from the previous three albums, but
also contains new tracks. The first single released from this album
was "Walking In The Sunshine", and it is plain and simple one of the
best songs they have done to date. A very fun and happy song, it
brings to mind a person that has found the person they love, and now
their life is full of light and warmth! Nothing less than great,
which is what we have come to expect from these three talented country
stars! Of course, if you ask me, ALL of their albums could be called
"Greatest Hits". But would sound too much like brown-nosing now
wouldn't it??
Please e-mail me with your comments, suggestions, beefs, bouquets, or whatever!!
I would really appreciate it!
