Proffer-Spillman, George was born in 1781 in Pennsylvania. He grew
up and married in N. Carolina and came to Missouri on the same wagon train
as his paretns.

3. Mary2 PROFFER (John1) was born 1791 in Lincoln Co. N.C., and died 1895 in Henderson Co TX age 104. She married Samuel Washington Sifford in abt 1819. He was born 1792 in N.C., and died 1849 in Stoddard Co MO..

Mary ( PROFFER) SIFFORD was born in Lincoln
Co N.C. Her father John PROFFER born in Germany married Margaret HELDERMAN,
German. John came into this country bound as an apprentice to learn the
blacksmith trade and he became a blacksmith. He, Margaret and the
family moved just to the East of where Cape Girardeau now stands , a town
called Crump, MO. You can see it on a MO. map on HWY U. Grampa John and
Gramma Margaret are buried in the PROFFER cemetery there. Someone has erected
a monument there in their memory.
Charles Hedrick was living in Mary's household and was at the reading of Samuel SIFFORD's will. Who is he? After 1850 Mary and her younger children moved with her daughter, Elizabeth to near Athens in Henderson Co Texas and lived there the rest of her life. Vonda Clark

Proffer-Spillman, Peter Proffer was born 1793 in N. Carolina.He married
Elizabeth Stropp. He first settled in Cape County but later
moved to Stoddard County where he lived the remainder of his life dying
in 1858. His wife Elizabeth died around 1832 and it is throught that he
remarried. She also says that she has accumulated quite a lot of
information on this family, his descendants will not be included in this
history except to name his known children:

Proffer-Spillman, David Proffer was born 1801 in N. Carolina. He
settled in the Crump, MO area where he lived his entire life dying there
on November 21, 1861. He was buried in the Proffer Cemetery.
Although his descendants will not be listed in this works, some of them
will be included due to marrriages between the two families. He had
