HAPPY HARDCORE by DJ Bunjy

Ramos & Sunset Regime - Lands Of Mystery (Happy Tunes)

Rolling breaks and beats, over a hard stomping kick drum and a rushing drop to "Lands Of Mystery". Kicking.

Prime Attack - Box Of Trix (Vicious Vinyl)

This Leicester label has an old school vibe that brings a smile to my face every time, and 'Box Of Trix' is no exception. I'd also like correct my review in the last issue when I mistakenly said 'Total Exstacy' had been reworked by SS, when it was actually remixed by EQ who also worked on the original a few years ago. Anyway, Vicious have brought out seven releases to date, all to their usual high standard. My favourite is number 4, but check them all.

Quosh 4

The two sides have different vibes, but are both still kicking. The A side has a Bad Manners played organ drop that gets the crowd jumping. The flip has vocals courtesy of Lippy Lou (or someone like that) that work well and could be played at almost any club.

High Life - Good Times (Just Another Label)

Amen breaks in full effect, cheesy piano licks and vocals taking you hopefully to the hottest summer ever.

Donna Grassie - Feel The love (Stompin Choonz)

Good hard drums and an in-and-out stompin vibe make this one go down a treat. Trust me, I'm a DJ.

Dougal - Love Toy (Essential Platinum)

DJ Dougal sampling "Fascinated', which works well around his music. This one is getting dropped here, there and everywhere.

Hopscotch - Midnight Express (Essential Platinum)

This is hard and bouncy with a true happy vibe all the way through. A delight to play and coming to a record shop near you soon.

31 Seconds (remix) (Homegrown)

You probably know the "31 Seconds" sample from Origin Unknown's jungle anthem "Valley Of The Shadows", and this is a very cheeky mix on a 4 beat flavour of course. I can't help playing it to death and I'm sure you'll have the same problem too.

DJ Seducion - Imagination (Impact)

Well, this was a classic first time round and this reworking makes sure it still is. I feel this mix is even better and it will kick up a lot of dust on many a dancefloor again and again. Don't miss it this time.

Euphony - Time & Space (Clubscene)

This sounds very fresh and different, with stompy drums, acid stabs and a 303 belly rumble. More on a trance and happy vibe in fact, but it still works well on the dancefloor - one for the box!

DJ Fade - Party People (Pure Dance)

This has rave trimmings to please all, right from the breaks & beats to the vocals and rave stabs. So 'raise your hands to heaven' like it says in the drop. Look out for this.

Better Day (Great British Techno)

This is the first GBT release I've reviewed, but I have the previous five and I'd like to say they are all kicking and deserve a mention. 'Better Day' is a breakbeat frenzy that manages to be ruff and smooth at the same time and works wonders on the dancefloor so go out and hunt down all 6, you won't be disappointed

DJ DNA - Dance With Somebody (Impact)

Both tracks are thumping but "Dance With Somebody' is destined to be a nationwide classic with wicked vocals from, can you tell me who?!

DJ Synergy & DJ Devotion - Days (Explosive)

Hard and bouncy with a nice stab pushing the kicks into fifth gear. Works well all the way to the excellent vocal drop. The ladies especially will love this one, trust me.

DJ Bunjy - Keep Jumping (0ff The Wall)

This breakbeat workout has hard kicks, vocals 'keep jumping' out at you and all the rave trimmings. I'm looking forward to dropping this one at Tribal Gathering very soon.

DJ Mastervibe - Teknovibe EP (Area 51)

All four tracks are fast and frantic (just how I like it), but my favourite is 'Power Of The Herb'. No release date yet, but destined to go down well in all good technodromes.

DJ Vinylgroover - Unopened Titles (Big Beats)

Number four on Vinylgroover's label, and this DJ friendly release has bits and bobs in all the right places. A must for the box.

David Forbes - Keep It Alive (Happy Tunes)

This is definitely a summer tune - bouncy kicks, nice stabs & fresh piano patterns with breaks lightly in the mix.

Also look out for: Cheddar 3 - Party Time remix (United Dance); DJ Poosie - It's Gonna Be (Camden); The Vampire - Clap To This (Homegrown); Remix Records 7 and Kniteforce Records 6
