ANDY'S BIO

Andrew James Lawrence was born on January 12, 1988 in Abinton, Pennsylvaia. He is the son of Joseph Sr. and Donna Lawrence and the youner brother of popular young actors Joseph (formerly Joey) and Matthew Lawrence.

From a very early age Andy was a lively little boy and was truly to the camera born. He had a treasure chest of costumes in his room and his family never knew who he was going to be. He always kept his family on their toes with his stories and jokes, and his repertoire of impersonations includes his idol Jim Carrey, Batman, the Joker, Captain Hook, Peter Pan, Rambo and even Fran Drescher. Joey has said of him, "Andrew has an imagination that just won't quit. He's very intelligent and mature, and he likes to talk about things other kids don't even know about. It's like living with Robin Williams. (16, 1996)

Andy made his acting debut at age 3 in his brother Matt's show Walter and Emily, starring Cloris Leachman and Brian Keith, as his tornado-like younger brother, and played the role of little Joey in "Blossom" flashbacks. He went on to play Tom Arnold's son in the CBS sitcom "Tom" before co-starring with Joey and Matthew in their series "Brotherly Love" for two seasons on NBC and the WB. He played a funny and imaginative costume-loving character modeled on himself. He has also had many movie roles. He played a homeless boy in Joey's movie "Prince For a Day" and co=starred with both his brothers in "Brothers of the Frontier". He has had major roles in "Cries Unheard: The Donna Yaklich Story" with Jaclyn Smith; "White Man's Burden" with John Travolta; "Deadly Web"; "Bean: The Ultimate Disaster" with British comic Rowan Atkinson; "Young Hearts Unlimited" with Lesley Ann Down and Corbin Bernsen: and "Family Tree" with Naomi Judd and Robert Forster. He's also done voice work on cartoons, including the voice of T.J. Detweiler on "Recess". More recently he costarred with Joey in the Disney Channel movie "Horse Sense" as a little cowboy; had a dual role as a boy who cloned himself in another Disney movie "The Other Me"; and had a recurring role as a spiky-haired skateboarder in the short-lived NBC sitcom "Tucker". He will appear again in a sequel to "Horse Sense" entitled "Ship Shape".

Joey Lawrence has said about Andy's acting, "Watch out--he's the wild one! You just take a Tums and watch him go to work. You never know what he's going to say, so it's nerve wracking--in a positive way. You get worn out just trying to keep up with him for an hour. When you see him, you won't believe some of the stuff he'll do. He just has no fear or ego. He'll go out there and do whatever the character calls for. It's amazing." (Teen Beat, 1996) Brotherly Love executive producer Jim Vallely said, "We think of him as the love child of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey", and Tom Arnold said, "The kid was so darned funny, I made him my official dialogue coach."

Andy is very close to both his brothers; Joseph is like an uncle to him, since he's 12 years older, and is always watching out for him. But he's especially close to Matthew, who considers him the best actor of the three of them. Their father Joe has said that Andy relies on Matt before anyone else. Matt is quick to answer his every question and showers him with attention; they're often seen sharing a hug or holding hands. Matt steers Andy in the right direction; when Andy was off the wall he looked at Matt if he thought he was being a little too out of control. Matt has said, "I just make sure that Andy does everything the way I know he can. I make sure he's at his best." (BOP, 1997) Matt also plays games, watches TV, has pillow fights, boogie boards and plays American Gladiator fighting games on their parents' bed with Andy. (At least they did all these things when they were younger.) He' sais, "Joey and Andy love each other, but it's hard for them to get to the same level because there's such a huge age difference between them...But I'm still at the point where I don't mind getting down and playing with Andy, doing whatever it is he wants to do." (BOP,1997) Matt's also said, "Andy is the most fun to be around. We're always going crazy and laughing together. People can't believe how close we really are. (16, 1996)

I'm sure I speak for all of Andy's fans when I say we hope he continues to entertain us for a long time.
