Some general stuff about me. Not very interesting, frankly.
First off, my nickname is Leto, as you may have already discerned. I've had the nickname Leto for a few years now. I originally saw the name when looking at Greek mythology stuff, and chose it for no reason than that I wanted something to call myself by online, and thought the word looked and sounded cool.
These days I do not really like the origin of my nickname and would be more inclined to explain it by saying that 'leto' is the Russian word for 'summer'. Which is a cool fact - I love the word 'summer' too. But in Russian the word is pronounced differently. I pronounce my nickname "Leeto". There are still a couple of people in real life who call me this, but mostly it's an online nickname.
I'm 20 years old. I'm an IT graduate. Yup, I'm a computer nerd. ^_^. (Of course, if I really were a computer nerd, I'm sure it wouldn't take me so many hours to get my code to compile. ^_^.)
I live in South Australia.
I'm a Christian.
My interests include Japanese music, church, reading, writing, comics, drawing (not seriously - just scrawling pictures all over the page while supposed to be taking notes in lectures) and various computer-related activities.
Some of the things I like include a nice hot cup of green tea, seeing certain old friends after a while of not seeing them, the satisfaction of getting a job done well, second-hand bookstores, the way the trees light up an hour before sunset, and settling into a comfortable chair with some sticky date pudding to watch Tuesday night television.
Some of the things I don't like include the sort of 'music' one is subjected to in girl's clothing stores, feeling uncomfortable with the sort of person who isn't easy to get close to, very early or very late mornings, Coca Cola, any job requiring manual dexterity, headachingly hot weather, and SQL of any difficulty beyond 'select * from table;'.
By the way, my trademark smiley face has a beauty mark (^_^.) - I'm not ending a sentence every time I use it. ^_^. It's confused more than one person before. Basically it's just a stupid habit. ^_^.
I love cats. Our family has two of them... I also have two pets that are exclusively mine - hermit crabs! Their names are Lennie and Carl. ^_^. (There were others but they died. These ones have survived for several months now, I'm so proud. ^_^.) They're so cute. ^_^.
Some of my other favourites include:
Books: The Bible, The Screwtape Letters, The Lost World, Captain Corelli's Mandolin... oh, there are lots; I have hundreds of books that I've accumulated... I like L. M. Montgomery and Alcott's Little Women series (although Little Women itself seems a bit *too* preachy for my liking), Nick Hornby, Adrian Plass...
Movies: Forrest Gump, Mystery Men and The Castle
Songs: Changes every week, but at this particular instant, I'm partial to Nat King Cole's 'L-O-V-E', Lauren Buckley's 'Always and forever', Savage Garden's 'Animal Song'... actually, since Australian Idol started I've been listening to a lot more music that's *actually in English*! ^_^.
Singer/group: Hayashibara Megumi, Barenaked Ladies, Kasahara Hiroko, Guy Sebastian, Stu Campbell
Food: Sticky date pudding, and this particular type of French cheesecake...
Colours: Yellow and blue
TV shows: M*A*S*H, Becker, SKIThouse, Rove Live, Fast Forward, Australian Idol
I used to like anime (Japanese cartoons) but I think I got a bit too into it and found that it was occupying a greater proportion of my life than it ought to. You may notice that I'm the sort of person who likes to *write* about her opinions on *everything*. ^_^. So I made the decision to avoid it altogether. It's been two years since I last watched anime and I'm glad for the decision. This anime fandom is where my interest in Japanese music came from. I just like the Japanese language, and the style of Japanese songs. The lyrics of Japanese music usually have much cooler lyrics than ones in English, and I dunno, I just like them a lot.
Every time on this site that I have something to do with anime (such as the song translations or quotes) I repeat this disclaimer that I no longer watch/like anime. I say this because I don't want to give the mistaken impression that I've gone back on my word - I haven't.
I'm trying to remember why I called this page "Break Out!"... it's got nothing to do with zits... oh yeah. This page originally had a different name, and it was ugly and boring and never updated, and I finally decided to do something with it and remake it and change it, so I was "breaking out" of what it had been like, I guess. And it's a page for me to "break out" and write pages on whatever I feel like.
