Families of Fishermen Are Proud of Themselves

Li, Qing-zhao (1081 A.D.-1154 A.D.?)

The morning fog touches distant billowy clouds in the sky. A thousand sails dance upon The Silver River 1. In my dreams my soul seems to return to heaven. God asks me where I am going. I tell Him that my journey is long and difficult. For poetry, I can write amazing lines to no avail. A roc is being lifted by a powerful gust 2. I pray that the wind will not stop and will carry my small boat to the heavenly mountains.

1 The Silver River refers to the Milky Way.

2 This sentence means "I hope that one day I will be lifted by the wind and fly a thousand miles like a roc".
