A Fisherman

Liu, Zong-Yuan     (773 A.D.-819 A.D.)

A fisherman docked at the foot of the Western Mountain for the night.
At dawn he drew water from the river and built a camp fire with bamboo.
He disappeared after the smoke dispersed and the sun rose.
Suddenly a fisherman's song rang out and made the mountain and river green.
Turning my head around, I saw his boat downstream at the horizon.
Then all that remained was the clouds on the mountain pursuing each other aimlessly.
