Gua City is south of modern day Han-Jiang County of Jiangsu Province,
opposite to Zhen-Jiang City across the Yangtze River. The Great Canal flows
south into the Yangtze River here. Gua City is the place that Zhang will pass by
the next day. One would expect that he would use exciting words to describe the
place, but instead he uses only lukewarm words. This shows how lonely and
unsettled he is.
