The course of true love has never run smoothly for sassy Libby Kennedy. During her five years in Ramsay Street she's had more than her fair share of male misery. But when hunky mechanic Drew Kirk came into her life, we were sure she was on a winner. And when she finally agreed to marry him, the cheers rang out across the world.

 But now, with the countdown to the wedding underway, fate deals Libby a cruel blow when she’s involved in an horrific road crash. And, as she comes out of surgery, it's her doctor dad Karl who realizes the full tragic consequences of the accident- Libby will never be a mum.

With her wedding plans thrown into turmoil, it's some weeks before the harsh news is broken to Libby. And, though kids aren’t top of her immediate wish list, what will she so when she leans the bitter truth. "Libby's an independent girl who won’t want to see herself as a burden on Drew," says Kym Valentine, who plays her. And, knowing how been Drew is to have a family, it would be just like her to do the 'decent' thing and call the whole thing off.

The build up to the crash starts when Libby and mate Stephanie Scully zoom off on a weekend break on Steph’s powerful motorbike. While they're camping out, Libby asks Steph is she’ll be her bridesmaid- and Steph agrees. They're on their way home when they make a detour to visit caves Steph’s keen to see. Libby's not so enthusiastic- she's eager to get back to Drew. But she gives in and, when they finally head for home, they get caught in a storm.

Meanwhile, back in Ramsay Street Brendan Bell has come home early from a business trip and discovered estranged wife, Tess has gone clubbing with a fellow teacher. He drives off in a furious temper- on a collision course with Steph's motorbike. Steph escapes the pile-up relatively unscathed- but thins look grim for Libby as she’s rushed , unconscious, to hospital. Brendan seems okay, but is there something the doctor are missing? And as Drew waits anxiously at Libby's bedside, could he turn out to be a victim, too?
