Every Neighbours viewer knows that
Drew Kirk and Libby Kennedy are meant to be together, but the question remains:
when will Libby realize it?! Thankfully though, this month the troubled couple
seem to make progress. Drew has cause to be hopeful when Libby returns from
visiting her uncle and suggests a meeting. However, as actor Dan Paris explains,
his expectation of a reunion may be a little premature.
"Drew thinks Libby has gone away
to think about her feelings for him, which is probably true," Dan say.
"And when she returns, she seems to be back to her old self. Drew thinks
it's all very positive as far as their future is concerned. When they meet up,
the pair star reminiscing about old times and Drew thinks Libby is building up
to telling him that she wants to get back together. But then she drops the
bombshell- Libby wants Drew to be her friend, and nothing more."
The poor lad is totally
broken-hearted, but not entirely deterred in his quest to win back Libby's
heart. "Drew is shattered, but something tells him not to give up,"
Dan says. "He has been really patient with Libby, so thinks that if he
waits just a little longer, things might turn out the way he had planned."
While Libby has always denied that the inability to have children was the main
reason she ended their relationship, Drew knows better. And when Libby goes to
see a gynaecologist, it seems to confirm that she hopes to find a miracle cure-
which may pave the way for
her to get back together with Drew. "They doctor basically gives Libby the
same advice as before- if she were to conceive, her life would be in
danger," Dan says. "So then she gets on this health kick. It's like
she is trying to eat her way to good health, and thinks that if she can
improve her fitness and well-being, then having a baby may be an option."
Pretty soon, Libby's positive
attitude appears to extend to Drew- which again gives gives him hope. Drew bites
the bullet and decides to take Libby to task. "Drew can't keep his feelings
to himself any longer," reveals Dan. "He tells her that it's killing
him to be 'just friend', and challenges Libby to admit how she really feels. He
can't believe that she doesn't love him any more."
Dan isn't telling us how Libby react
to Drew's confrontation but he does hint that a reconciliation- and wedding
bells- are still a possibility. He also laughs off the suggestion that Drew's
neighbours, Stephanie Scully, is a real threat to their future happiness.
"Drew and Libby are perfect for each other, aren't they?" he teases.
"Libby is just a stubborn girl, as we all know. I think it will reach a
point where even she has to be honest with herself. Let's just hope the audience
are still interested by then!"
