Neighbours Golden Couple:

Libby Kennedy and Drew Kirk

Libby & Drew say 'I do'

There's a Scottish theme as the lovers finally tie the knot

It's one of the happiest soap weddings ever when Drew and Libby finally get married this week. The bride looks beautiful in a gorgeous gown, while the hand some groom shows off his Scottish ancestry by wearing a kilt. Dan Paris, who plays Drew, says: "It's a very romantic ceremony, especially because of the Scottish theme. However, wearing the kilt made it a lot more awkward for Drew. It's one thing to sing at a wedding but it's quite another to have to do it in a dress!"

Since they got together at the end of 1999, it's been a roller-coaster ride of emotions for Drew and Libby. They had planned to marry before but following Libby's motorcycle crash, which left her unable to have children, she called the wedding off. After months of denying her feelings for him, mechanic Drew decided there was nothing left for him in Erinsborough and prepared to head back to his family in the country. Of course, Libby realized at the last moment that she still loved him and dashed off to stop him leaving. Kym Valentine, who plays reporter Libby, says: "I know it seemed as if Libby was going cold on Drew but I don't think she ever stopped loving him."

The ceremony is a colourful affair, with the Kirk men proudly wearing their kilts. And when Libby hurls her bouquet, it is neatly caught by bridesmaid Steph. On their dream honeymoon, organized by Karl, Libby gets to swim with the dolphins, relax with her new husband and finally put all her trials and tribulations behind her. "Drew and Libby have always been meant for each other," says Dan. "But it's taken him a long time to make an honey woman of her. I've really enjoyed all the twits of the storyline. Sometimes, I though the two characters were never going to get together. I'm really pleased they did because they have been through so much together. I hope it shows kids that love is worth fighting for."
