Children's
writers to sound off in "Kuwentuhan" series
QUEZON
CITY - Four accomplished writers of children's literature are
set to participate in the Likhaan Writers Kuwentuhan Series
tomorrow, December 7, 2001, from 1-4 p.m. at the Pulungang Claro
M. Recto, Faculty Center, here.
Participating in the talk are children's writers
Becky Bravo, Lin Acacio-Flores, Augie Rivera and illustrator
Jason Moss.
Becky Bravo won two Palanca Awards
for her children's stories in English. "Fish for Two" is her
very first children's book.
Lin
Acacio-Flores won Palanca awards for the children's stories
in English. Her published books include: A Child's Treasury
of Philippine Christmas Stories, The Secret, and The Quarreling
Kites. Recently, one of her stories won runner up honors in
the 2001 PBBY Salanga Writers Prize. She is a member of KUTING
(Kuwentista ng mga Tsikiting), an organization of Filipino writer
for children.
Augie Rivera has won the Palanca Awards
four times for the children's story both in Filipino and English.
His published books include: Alamat ng Ampalaya, XILEF, Magnificent
Benito and his Two Front teeth, Burnay, Ang batang Palayok,
Batang Historyador series, and the soon-to-be-released Alamat
ng Sibuyas. He is currently Editor and Production Manager of
Lampara Books. He is the current vice-president of KUTING.
Illustrator Jason Moss won National
Book Awards for his illustrations for the book 'A Sea of Stories"
and "Cinco de Noviembre." His other illustrated works include:
Rizal in Saga, Ay! May Bukbok ang Ngipin ni Ani , Fish for Two,
Magnificent Benito and His Two Front Teeth, Huff and Grudge
and the soon-to-be-released Alamat ng Sibuyas. He is a member
of Ang INK (Ilustrador ng Kabataan), an organization of Filipino
children's books illustrators. Jason is also an accomplished
painter. |
