Amos was born on Sept.15, 1737 and died on Oct 7 1811 at the age of 74. Amos married Hannah Condit and had seven kids. Amos was a Revolutionary war Captain in the New Jersey (Essex County) militia. Amos Jr. was the seventh child of Amos Sr. He was born on Oct 4, 1781 and died March 26, 1851. He was 70. Amos Jr. married Polly Canfield and lived in Bloomfield and Newark. They had three kids James Collord, March 8, 1801, David Canfield, Sept 5, 1806, and Harriet Newel, Jan. 9, 1815. David Canfield Dodd married Mary Ann King on Oct. 29, 1829 and lived in Newark. They had seven kids. Kate Canfield Dodd was their fourth child. She was born on Oct. 1 1837. This is where the Rutan family comes in. She married my great, great grandfather William Duane Rutan in 1858. He was born in 1835 and died in 1912. They had two kids Belle Rutan in 1860 and David Dodd Rutan in 1863. David Dodd Rutan married Mary "Minnie" Starkweather cir. 1894. They had Ruth D. Rutan in 1896, Florence in 1897 and Harold Duane, in 1898. Harold Duane married Silva Downs and had Harold Jr. and William David Rutan.
