“Hey, Wu,” Duo called, peering into the small living room over the kitchen divider. He pouted, seeing no sign of his Chinese lover.
Creeping silently upstairs to their room. Unzipping his jacket, he sat on the bed and took out his precious burden. He grinned as a little “meow” escaped the kitten as it climbed out of his arms and began walking across the bed, tail up high as he sniffed the new surroundings. Duo laid back and reached one hand out to caress the short, orange fur of the skinny feline.
He'd just gotten back from the vet's, having brought the stray in not too long after finding it. He'd immediately found a liking to the scrawny little thing. It was amazing that it didn't have any illnesses, having been out on the street, but the vet assured that the cat seemed fine, just needing some good food and a place to stay. Thinking of that, he picked up the cat again, cradling it in his arms as he headed back downstairs into the kitchen where he had left the pet supplies. Shaking his head, Duo wondered what Wufei would say once he got back.
As he poured some dry food into a bowl to set in front of the little cat he said, “He's going to love you. And anyway, there's no way I'm giving you up.” He smiled and put down some water with the food before setting up the litter box in the corner of the kitchen. After the cat had finished eating, Duo brought him towards the litter box, making sure the cat knew where it was. “No accidents or Wu won't like you,” he announced.
The kitten purred, rubbing against Duo's pant-leg. “Okay, okay...”
Duo sat on the floor, letting the kitten climb over him and knead against his sleeve. The little face rubbed against Duo's chin and a small tongue dashed out to lick at Duo's skin for a few moments. Duo laughed as the cat purred loudly against his ear.
The front door opened and closed. Duo stood up, leaving the kitten on the kitchen floor as he went to go greet his lover. “Wu!” He laughed, running up and embracing Wufei about the shoulders tightly. “Oi, oi, I missed ya, y'know!”
“Idiot,” Wufei snorted, shaking his head as a small smile graced his lips. He kissed Duo lightly before breaking the embrace to head towards the kitchen.
“Kyaa! Wu, oi, oi... ano... I have to tell you something!” He hurried after Wufei, attempting to cut him off.
Just a foot from the kitchen, Wufei halted, staring down at the floor. “What is that?” he demanded, staring at the orange fuzz ball sitting just inside the kitchen.
“A kitten...” Duo started, trailing off.
Wufei turned to him, hands on his hips. “Why is it here?”
“Oh please can't I keep it!” Duo begged, putting on a pout. “He's the sweetest little thing! Really!”
As if too prove it, the kitten stood up and walked towards Wufei's feet, head rubbing against his pant-leg. Glaring down at the cute little animal, Wufei sighed, looking to his lovers, wide eyes. Shaking his head, laughing at the innocent look Duo was putting on, Wufei bent over and scooped up the kitten, holding it in his arms. The kitten purred happily and began wrapping around Wufei's shoulder, climbing all over him.
Laughing, Duo leaned against the back of the couch as he watched the kitten climb Mt. Wufei. “That's so cute! Oh Wu, he likes you! Can't we keep him? Please!”
Frowning at his furry hat, Wufei turned around to face Duo. “I don't have a choice. He's taken up permanent residence. He attempted to pry the cat off his head, but little claws began gripping on tighter. “Ow.”
Shaking his head, still laughing, Duo managed to ask, “So what's his name gonna be?”
Wufei was silent for some moments, staring up towards the cat on his head. “Keeper.”
Duo smiled. “I like that.” He looked at the cat, purring contentedly. “Keeper...” He grinned. “Yes, I definitely like it.” He stood up, embracing Wufei lightly, kissing the other on the cheek. “Hey, thanks, koi.” He grinned.
Wufei scowled at him. “It's only because he won't get off my head.”
“Yeah, right,” Duo rolled his eyes, chuckling lightly.
