Machine Knit Hat Pattern #1

This is a very beautiful and easy machine knit hat for a preemie

Level:
medium

Tools required:
mid-gauge knitting machine
4ply baby wool

Instructions:
Bring 45 alternate needles into use, leaving the others out of play.
Cast on by e-wrapping each of the 45 needles.
Stockinette stitch 18 rows.
Pick up the cast on row and place stitches onto the needles in use. This creates a hem.
Stockinette stitch another 29 rows.
Cast off in your preferred manner.

Sew row end together to form tube.
Make two crochet cords of required length, leaving a few inches of yarn at each end.
Thread one cord 6 rows from the cast off row.
Thread other cord 1 row above hem.
Tie bows, then with end yarn sew the bow 'tails' into the bow knot. This not only turns the bow into a butterfly, but also prevents the bow from coming undone.
