This a great garter stitch preemie hat. It is knitted using 8ply / DK baby yarn.
This pattern is very similar to the Preemie Hat Pattern 1 It is a
great teaching pattern if you want to learn to use dpns

Level: easy - medium

Tools Required:
4mm needles
8ply baby wool

Instructions:
Using 4mm needles cast on 42sts
Row 1 - Knit
Row 2 - Knit
Rep last 2 rows 7 times (16 rows in all completed)
Purl 2 rows for hemline of band
Rep first 2 rows 15 times (30 rows in all)
Purl 1 row

Shape Crown:
1st row - *sl 1, k1, psso, k1, k2tog, k2, rep from * to end (30sts)
2nd and alt rnds - Purl
3rd row - *sl 1, k1, psso, k1, k2tog, k0, rep from * to end (18sts)
Next row - Knit
Next row - *K1, k2tog, rep from * to end
Next row - *k2tog, rep from * to end (6sts)
Break of wool and thread through remaining sts and draw up and fasten securely.
Fold cuff on right side of work.
