July 2, 2006: 

Vader: MIA

Vader is missing in action. It's up to Luke to find him. Your story can be
set in any time period, and Luke's motives for going after Vader can be
anything from revenge to concern. The goal with this challenge is to come up
with a creative, yet believable, explanation for Vader's disappearance.

The 'ER' Challenge

Either Luke OR Vader has been diagnosed with a life-threatening medical
condition. The only hope of survival is the cooperation of a close family
member, who must donate something organic (e.g. an organ, blood, tissue,
bone marrow etc).

The fic can be set before Luke knows Vader is his father, if you so wish.

The fic must feature:
1) Luke and Vader
2) at least one real medical fact about the type of donation you have
chosen.

Optional:

3) in true tv medical drama style, a scene where a bunch of doctors run
along a corridor pushing an emergency stretcher, and yelling medical jargon
at each other.
- bonus points if you can make this scene credible

Inversion Challenge

Luke and Vader trade bodies. This can be at any time in the trilogy or before and can be because of an alien artifact/weird occurrence/the Force, whatever. The two characters have to learn to live each others lives plausibly until they can switch back. 

Requirements~
1. Must be L/V (of course)
2. Must contain the line, "Just remember, I can do just as much damage here as you can do there."
3. Must contain the line, "Give me one good reason not to kill you where you stand".
4. Must have at least one scene where Luke has to get used to walking with a cape.

Masquerade Challenge

Someone is masquerading about the galaxy under the name of “Anakin Skywalker.”  The information reaches both Imperial and Alliance networks.  Both Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker hear of it and react accordingly.

Some ideas and guidance:

Remember, this is an L/V fic.  That means that Luke and Vader must interact.  They can run into each other while hunting down “Anakin Skywalker.”  It can be pre or post-ESB.  Luke could think that this “Anakin Skywalker” is his father (if its post-ESB he might think Vader lied to him despite what the Force told him, if its pre-ESB...well, you know Luke).  Luke could believe that Vader is his father and know that this is an imposter.  The possibilities go on and on.     

One caution: if you make this “Anakin Skywalker” the real Anakin Skywalker, then Vader is no longer Luke’s father and your story is not an L/V.

FIRST ANNUAL L/V CELEBRATION

February 4th will be the one year anniversary of the L/V Writers list. In preparation for this event, I propose a challenge.

This challenge consists of this, and this only…

Compose a work (can be a fic, poem, picture… anything that you can share with the group), which includes ALL of the following:

1. Luke
2. Vader
3. Celebration of some sort of anniversary (it can be ANYTHING- birthday, wedding, death, destruction of moon-sized space stations… etc.)
4. The phrase: "You keep using that word -- I do not think it means what you think it means."

Submissions are due by February 1st--  then we'll have four days to vote on the winner!
