Why Lambda Chi Alpha?

We don’t attempt to paint a picture of Lambda Chi Alpha as most fraternities would. While there are many similarities, we believe there are differences in Lambda Chi Alpha that set us apart with a new standard of brotherhood and leadership.

We also believe that the more you know about Lambda Chi Alpha, the more you’ll understand that it is “A Way of Life”. Lambda Chi Alpha can be defined as a social general fraternity. This immediately conjures up images of awesome rush functions, sports, parties, and more enjoyable weekends. We happen to believe these activities are a healthy and important part of college life. The term social doesn’t have it’s roots as a general pursuit of happiness. It comes from the word society. One of the goals of Lambda Chi Alpha is to enhance the skills of all members so they will be better equipped for what will be required tomorrow, the next day, and in life.

Sure, rush functions, sports, parties, and weekends exist and we think that’s good. They’re just not the sole reason we exist.

Leading the Way…

While you will hear many fraternities mention leadership and claim that they are number one, we believe actions speak louder than words.

Associate members…

In 1972 we became the first fraternity to abolish pledgeship. This isn’t a “token” no-pledge concept. We broke new ground by eliminating the “us vs. them” mentality of a fraternity and created the first true associate member program.

Setting Standards…

At one time, many fraternities considered alcohol as a necessary means of campus entertainment. We took a leadership approach in changing this.

Academic Excellence…

Leadership has also been exemplified in our approach to academic excellence. The minimum grade point average required to become a member is 2.25 or higher.

Leadership opportunities…

We believe that an integral part of the Lambda Chi Alpha experience are the leadership opportunities that are available at every level. Each chapter offers at least a dozen officer positions. Volunteer activities alone add up to over 100,000 community service hours by members each year. We take pride in giving back to the community.

The skills and attributes you’ll develop in Lambda Chi Alpha include motivation, organization, goal setting, strategic thinking, and group presentation. These skills will improve your life, not only in college, but for life.

Lambda Chi Alpha, The Decision...

At Lambda Chi Alpha we believe we’ve created a system that will allow individuals to grow, to learn, to prepare themselves for life's’ ups and downs. Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring - but we do know that Lambda Chi Alpha will give you a head start. Just ask any one of our 227,000 members throughout North America and they’ll tell you why Lambda Chi Alpha is “A Way of Life”.
