The McMinnville Composite Squadron had it's first meeting October 4, 1986. In attendance were five individuals who would be the five charter members of the McMinnville Composite Squadron. They were Alva Lee, Les Peterson, Joe Swetz, David Swetz, and Keith Fritz. We officially became a squadron September 19, 1987. We were a flight of the Washington County Composite Squadron for our first year. They provided training to our charter members and helped us get on our way.

Over the years we have had roughly 175 cadet members and about 40 senior members in our squadron.

Our first squadron commander was Major Al Lee. He was Commander for about two years. Our next Squadron Commander was Major Rick Mills. He commanded the squadron until 1991 when then Captain, now Lt Col Les Peterson took over the reins as commander. Col. Peterson commanded the squadron until January 2004 when his nephew 1Lt., now Captain David Peterson took over.
