On The Verge The Tragically Hip Tabbed by Rod Nolan rodn@plato.ucs.mun.ca Intro: ***** E|----------|----------|----------|----------|----------|----------| B|----------|----------|----------|----------|----------|----------| G|----------|----------|----------|--99999---|----------|----------| D|---2---2--|---0---0--|-(repeat)-|--99999---|----------|----------| A|-2---2----|-----2----|----------|--99999---|----------|----------| E|----------|----------|----------|----------|----------|----------| ***** after repeating the main intro riff a whole bunch of times, there is the part that sounds like a car in bad need of a wheel alignment speeding around a turn, you know... the squealing tires sound? Try scraping the pick on the strings and turn the distortion way up. If anyone comes up with a better way to do this please share it with the group. The verses use the intro riff up until the last line which goes like this: Verse 1: B5 Do I plug it in it or do I stick it in it? Verse 2: B5 The Men, the Legend, the Goat, the Satyr Verse 3: B5 I'm a highway romance milking theif Chorus: A G Well I don't know what came over me A G I'm too dumb for words A G I didn't think I'd like it here at all B5 E (and back to the intro riff) But I swear I swear I'm on the verge And then there's the interlude. Instead of going back to the intro riff after the second chorus you just start slamming away at the B5 and B5/A chords (B5/A looks like x044xx). The interlude part goes like this: E|----------|----------|----------|----------|----------|-then-----| B|----------|----------|----------|----------|----------|-there's--| G|-4---2-1--|-1^2^1-1--|--repeat--|--another-|-repeat---|-a longer-| D|-2-*-2-2--|------2---|---bar 1--|--little--|--bar 1---|-run that-| A|----------|----------|----------|---run----|----------|-leads to-| E|----------|----------|----------|----------|----------|-the solo-| The second bar is the first little lick. I think there are two or three more more that I haven't figured out yet. And I'm not much for figuring out solos. Anybody else want to add their parts to this? Email me rodn@plato.ucs.mun.ca And that's pretty much the whole thing. Have fun! Rod
