The Chatelaine Chat
On November 19, 1999 Deborah Cox participated in a live online chat that was sponsored by the Canadian Women's Magazine Chatelaine.
I was privileged to have the opportunity to "meet" Deborah Cox online, and ask her questions, five of which she answered. As usual, she was very congenial, and seemed lovely.
I am posting the five questions of mine that Deborah Replied to Below:
*May the reader keep in mind that I was completely gushing, I could not believe I was chatting to Deborah Cox, even if she was only typing her replies J *

Body- Hey Ms. Cox…Please read my message.. Deborah Cox- I Love U :-) How are you this morning.
Deborah’s Reply:

Body- I am doing great this morning!
My Post:
Subject- You are the greatest
Body- Deborah… You are the greatest singer ever in my opinion, your range, those pipes..you are amazing, I also think that you are very beautiful, and I admire the way you carry yourself…you are a good role model for young women of color (or any young woman anywhere)
How was Africa? Tell us about your experiences…
Deborah’s Reply:
Subject- South Africa
Body- South Africa was amazing. We went to Durbin, Johannesburg and Cape Town for shows and then we continued onto Mozambique for missionary work with WORLD VISION. It was so humbling to see the state of poverty that these people are in. I will go back in the new year.
My Post:
Subject- What kind of hobbies do you have?
Body- Hey Ms. Cox…What other hobbies do you have, besides your obvious signing talent, acting talent, and photogenic qualities :-)

Subject- Hobbies
Body- I like to read autobigoraphies, and hang out with my dog, Minnie. I also love watching movies and sleeping

Body- Ms. Cox…I read on your site that the next single release is September….I luv your videos…are you going to do another for September…I hope so…After Septemeber, will couldn’t we be released? That’s my mother’s favorite.

Body- The next single will be September. I am trying to get the record company to do the video here in Canada….so we’ll see.
*The next question of mine that Ms. Cox answered requires some background information. Another fan posted a question to the effect of when Deborah was coming to Toronto, and she replied that she was already in Toronto, Filming a Movie with Larenz Tate called "Love Come Down". Then she said something about hosting the world vision telethon on 12/5. Now for my question*

Body- Ms. Cox…How cool about the movie, he’s like one of my favorite actors, I didn’t see anything about the movie on the website, I pride myself in keeping up :-)
Give us a few small details please…just a few… Thanks for answering my questions…this was worth driving all the way to college for :-) You are such a wonderful person.

Subject- The Movie
Body- I didn’t mention the movie on my site because it’s still a surprise! I can’t tell you much about it until it’s done. It’s a romantic drama though.
*If Deborah Cox is watching, I hope that this information isn’t classified, and that it’s okay for me to post the above message…..to my viewers……please don’t post the prior question, and Deborah’s response…….I don’t want to be the source of any unfounded rumors. She said the movie is still a surprise, so let’s leave it at that :-)*
This was a day that I’ll Never forget….I had to drive almost thirty minutes so that I could participate in this chat, and it was certainly worth it.
A few weeks later, Deborah Cox sent me a shout out for participating in the chat in the Letters that she writes to her fans on her website. I’m still grateful, and in shock. To all you fans out there waiting for a shout out from Deb on her chat page, don’t give up, I’m glad I didn’t.
One day though, I hope to see Deborah Cox in person, and give her a shout out :-)
