Sin City, That Yellow Bastard

Grade:

Sin City, Frank Millers over the top, urban crime pulp book, has gotten a lot of praise. That Yellow Bastard is a lesser effort, but still much better that most of what is published.

For starters it has atmosphere in spades, partially coming from the artwork. The heavy black on white is very striking, it gets more detailed than you would think possible, considering how heavily the art is inked.

The story is fairly simple, involving cops, political power, and love. But like I said before, as simple as the story is the way it is told adds so much to it. The usage of yellow for the character Junior is brillant, it stands out and works so well. Sin City has told much better stories, but lets be generous and give this book 4 stars because its still great to read and the art is incredible.
