As I said on another page, I had a deep, instant yearning to learn rueda. So I took the first classes I could find. FUN!! But after I'd learned some basic moves, I realized that there were not many opportunities to dance it---because not many people at the Rio (restaurant where I danced) knew any of the moves. I decided to put together free classes to teach some friends, so I'd have people to dance rueda with on Tuesdays. We started in January, 2008. After a month or so, we found another group of like-minded salsa-addicts (CSU Latin Dance Club), and we started dancing together. It's been a great merger of two groups of people.
I'm still teaching rueda to this group of friends in Ft. Collins. We meet every Monday evening in the rec-room of one friend's apartment. Here are details of this weekly event.
| Location | Time | Sign-Up Sheet |
|---|---|---|
| Lory Apartments, 905 W Laurel, south-most building (enter down the stairs on the east side) | 7:30 pm every Monday | Click here to sign up to come to this week's session. (We use this sign-up sheet to try and get equal numbers of leads and follows. When we don't have equal numbers, we either have some people switch roles---some Follows will lead---or we have some people dance with an "air lady" or "air man" who gets passed around the circle so everyone has equal "air time".) |
You can email me for more info. Three of us teach rueda to beginners as well as more advanced intermediates. Sometimes we also do some salsa instruction, as well as cha cha. Maybe we'll do some bachata in the future.
These are intended as "reminders" for people who have been to the class, not as a way for a total novice to teach themselves rueda.
Have Feedback? If you edit the files and think I would benefit from your changes, or if you have general feedback, please email me! Thanks!
Stay Tuned! I'm in the process of finding videos of all these moves!
