The Ben-story so far
Hi, I'm Ben Adams and I'm the baby
of the band. Not only do I bring my music to the group, but I bring a bit of cheek too! And some naughtiness! I'm happy most
of the time and I don't think you'd ever see me not smiling 'cause I love what I'm doing!
Here is a little about me and my
life:
I was born November 22, 1981 in
a place called Middlesex, witch is right in the middle of three countryregions southwest in England.
I grew up with my mum Anita, my dad Jeremy and my brother
Rupert and my sister Lucy. Actually both under the age of 10.
My first memory about my life,
is when I was about three years old and I was outside playing, and my mum called on me and said that my favourite cartoon
Garfield was on tv, and I was so happy, so I ran in to the living room and dived with my head first into the very pointed
coffeetable, and I was rushed to the hospital and had to sow a couple of stiches, and you can still se the scar over my right
eyebrow.
I've always wanted to do
this career ever since I can remember. I grew up on my mum's Tracy Chapman records, but whatever singers I heard I'd try to
imitate.
When I was just three and watching Top Of The Pops. I actually turned to my mum and said, "I want to be on Top Of The Pops."
But my nr 1 musical hero is actually Michael Jackson. I
think he is a great singer and not at least preformer. I love his dancemoves. Actually, when I was little I used to pretend
that I was him. I used to dance around and do his danceroutines.
I became head chorister of St Margaret's
Westminster Abbey which meant I got a lot of attention. I loved it! I sang for the Pope, the Queen and for royal weddings
and charities. I've also been on radio, television shows like Barrymore and documentaries too - but I'd only ever listen to
my bit then switch off! I recorded two classical CDs which are my pride and joy - until the a1 CD`s came out!
Because
I went to an arty school, I did a lot of acting both in plays and musicals as well - my best performance was as the MC in
a musical called Cabaret and I spent a week in character!
One of my best personal moments
so far was getting my dog. She is called Holly, and she's a little miniature long-haired dachshund. She actually goes around
with me on tour in the Uk, but when were going out of the Uk, she stays with my mum.
I was very young
and still in school when I joined a1. Mark introduced me to our manager, I sang a cappella song - a Tracy Chapman song, of
course - and was asked to join up there and then!
Being in a1 is excellent,
everything I've ever dreamed of!
For those who think that we are not engaged to the music:
WRONG! We all known how to play an instrument or several. I can play the piano and I can play that very, very well. I can
also play the violin and the oboe not that well! But I can play the recorder extremely well - my favourite song is called
"The Fireman."
One of my best a1 moments was getting back our finished
tracks from Mike Hedges, because we've always wanted to create our own sound and I think we've managed to capture that. I
think our third album is going to show a little more of who we really are as persons too.
But for my best imaginable
a1 moment it would be for everyone to cotton on to this and get some radio play at last! Apart from that, to just keep on
having a lot of success and doing what we love.
Because we now are
celebrities we get a chance to meet other celebrities, and my favourite celebrity I have ever met is Robbie Williams. I thought
he was fantastic, really nice. He was just about to go on stage in Manchester, and he was not feeling very well and he still
took the time to come and say, "Thanks for coming, nice to see you.
But there is still
one celebrity I would love to meet, and that is Tracy Chapman, and I won't stop going on about her until I finally do meet
her!
Still there is some
downsides about this job. I miss being able to looking forward to weekends, because, when youre in this buisness there are
no weekends off. When I was at school you'd get that Friday feeling, which was a fantastic feeling.
I do believe in love,
and love at first site. You must be really cynical not to.! A nice strawberry-flavoured girl.
On a Saturday night
off, Im probably doing boring stuff like watching TV - though me and Christian go out a lot to clubs or for something to eat.
On a Sunday morning
Im usually pretty tired and in no good shape and I'll probably getting out my shotgun, taking shots at you to get you out
of my house!
My top three albums
would be Tracy Chapman's self-titled album, Watermark by Enya - it's a flippin' excellent chill-out album - and Snoop Doggy
Dogg's Doggy Style.
Blackstreet's song
"You Blow My Mind" always makes me get down.
A lot of Usher stuff is quite sexy and often gets me in the mood and
there's an artist called Joe, whose first album was tremendous.
A song that I often sing in the shower is "Trouble' by Shampoo. It
kind of fits, doesnt it. In the shower with my shampoobottle.
My motto is "Take
each day as it comes and what you give out comes back multiplied."
