Marine Security Guard (MSG) Duty - MSG duty is a voluntary duty which includes
     training with the State Department in preparation for assignment to overseas diplomatic
     posts.  There are over 120 American Embassies overseas available for assignment while
     on MSG duty.  Marine security guards travel on diplomatic passports and serve as members
     of their embassies' staff.  They're treated professionally and are expected to think and act
     like professionals.  Security guard duty is a chance to experience a different culture, learn a

Marine Corps Security Forces (MCSF) Duty - A MCSF assignment can bring opportunities
     to serve as part of an instructor cadre at U.S. and foreign military schools.  The primary
     mission of MCSF units is to provide security for portions of naval activities or vessels
     requiring the unique capabilities of an armed, combat trained Marine.  Emphasis is placed
     upon selecting those Marines who are mature, dependable, and can be expected to correctly
     respond to unusual or emergency situations with little or no supervision.  If you think you're

Recruiting Duty - There is no single assignment which can prepare a Marine for recruiting
     duty.  The potential recruiter, like any effective sales person, must project a positive attitude
     and believe in the product before he/she is able is able to make a sale.  The Marine recruiter
     is a highly visible individual in the civilian community.  The recruiter must be able to cope
     with a certain degree of rejection and frustration and resist the temptations encountered in the
     independent duty environment.  The nature of a Marine recruiter's responsibilities require the
     potential recruiter to be mature, self-confident, trustworthy, and cooperative.  Marines
     should present an exceptional appearance, be self-starters, and possess good judgment.  For

Drill Instructor Duty - The drill instructor is the first Marine a young recruit meets when
     reporting for active duty and the last Marine the recruit should ever forget.  The drill
     instructor's actions will be emulated by the recruit.  Therefore, the potential drill instructor
     must possess a high degree of maturity, leadership, judgment and professionalism.  There

Career Planner Duty - Career planning is a secondary MOS  no other MOS can live without.
     As Marines near the end of their first enlistment, their career planner can be their best friend.
     Like a recruiter in many ways, the career planner must project a positive attitude and
     exemplify those traits associated with quality.  Career planners must represent the type of
