We've checked this out twice and Delainie loves this very much. It's a truly original story book for children. I went searching for the author and was able to find him and send a brief note to which he replied that very day.

Audio books I’ve listened to in the year 2001:
  1. Dandelion Wine
  2. Black Sunday
I want to see the movie of this again. I've not seen it since the film was in the theater in 1977. There is no letterboxed version of it on VHS and no DVD that I know of, which is a shame.
  3. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (the BBC radio adaptation)
This was quite different since it went beyond the second book but had a different story than what was in the third book.
  4. The Snows of Kilimanjaro with The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber
This tape included part of Kazuo Ishiguro's An Artist in the Floating World written in 1986. It too was very good.
  5. The Grapes of Wrath
  6. Eaters of the Dead
  7. tuesdays with Morrie
  8. Angela's Ashes
  9. The Illustrated Man
    - listening to this twice and putting comments here.

  1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - finished it at last!
  2. Beijing Spring
  3. Oh, the Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss
  4. Zen Rock Gardening - just a mini book, but interesting.
  5. Neuromancer   Gibson, William   1984   Ace Books, The Berkley Publishing Group
  6. Home Movie   Akins, Ellen   1988   Simon and Schuster
    Started: 2001-xx-xx       Finished: 2001-09-20
This is a book that I've started on at least three other occasions. Each time, in the third chapter, I've lost the desire to finish it. This chapter is some 70 pages in length. One aspect of Akins' style of writing is to use very long sentences. These turn into very long paragraphs. There are cases where an entire paragraph will be a single immense sentence. I was so caught up in the mechanics of her writing, that it was a continuous distraction to the story.
  7. Slaughterhouse-Five   Vonnegut, Jr., Kurt   1969   Dell
    Started: 2001-09-26       Finished: 2001-09-27
