About Charles Patrick Mc Dade: Charles Patrick Mc Dade born 1842/43 Donagel, Ireland, son of Alice Mc Dade, & ?? Alice reportingly was born Kilkenny, Ireland. Immigrated to Philadelphia, 1846, aboard the ship lines of J.J. Mc Corkel & Cooke with three children, Harold, or Harry, Margaret, and Charles Patrick then age two. There is nothing known of the husband, father. It can only be speculated, until further search with findings that, Mr. Mc Dade, had either booked passage on a previous date and was awaiting his family arrival, or the worst could be that he died prior to the arrival of his family either before booking passage or during the sail from Londendarry. It is known that there were many deaths which occured on board the ships, due to diseases already contracted prior to boarding ship. It is well documented that during this time frame, that Ireland experienced the Great Potato Famine. Charles Patrick Mc Dade, his mother, Alice, and his two siblings, Harold, or "Harry" and Margaret, settled in the Nw York areas for some time, as it is known that Charles served with Union during the Civil War and that he was also married Mary Elizabeth Nealon, who was born in Berlin New York. The first son, third child born to Charles & Mary, is,Thomas Lawrence Mc Dade, born in Housit, New York. After having three children born in NY, they migrated by 1980 to Texas, by way of Tenn. where Charles for some time worked digging the tunnel through the Mountains Charles & Mary came to own a substanial, amount of land, on which the orginal homestead was built, comming to be known as the McDade Ranch. This land was located near the Trinity River, and not far from the town of McDade Texas, (which no longer exsists) |
