ENTERPRISE: MY EXAM
My Exam" ( March 10, 1999) |
Passing score: 560
My score: 694 (Half way through this exam, I thought I had bombed it! It was a surprise
that I actually passed. And the high score even puzzled me more! Go figure!)
Questions: 25 to 35 questions. (I received 25 questions.)
Tips: |
1. Try the process of elimination instead of searching for the right answer. I use it
constantly on questions. And so far, so good!
2. You can pass by just studying the concepts of old questions and answers. I did.
3. Take your time. I spent plenty of time on each question and managed to finish with 50
minutes left on the clock.
4. For Check Old Questions, go to Braindump or my Enterprise
page.
5. If you encounter TCP/IP questions below, you can check TCP/IP questions in Braindump or
My TCP/IP Exam
Q&As. I just found one question in my exam from Braindump's TCP/IP (Q25).
Questions: |
Q: What is the purpose of /sos switch? (Check Old Questions)
Q: "debugging" (Check Old Questions)
Q1: 4 disks. 1st disk is Boot/system. The rest are in RAID. 1st disk fails.
Ans: Replace disk, reinstall NT system, restore Registry from tape backup.
Q2: Mirror set fails. What you do?
Ans: Replace new one, break mirror, reestablish mirror set
Q3: *****New Question*****
cpu processor = 80.something
page/sec = 1
maybe % Disk Time Counter = some low number)
maybe Current Disk Queue Lenth = some low number)
Select one of the above that you should fix.
(Note: Above choices are listed like Excel's table.)
Ans. (The only number that stood out from the rest is "cpu processor = 80". That
was my pick.)
Hint: Just memorize below:
(1) CPU processor > 80 ===> Upgrade Processor
(2) page/sec > 20 ==> add more RAM
(3) % Disk Time Counter > 90% or Current Disk Queue Lenth > 2 ===> Upgrade Hard
Disk or Controller
Q4: *****New Question*****
"Collecting data during productive and non-productive hours" is from old exam.
Microsoft modified this one to something like "collect data during peak hours.
How?"
Chooses:
1. Use Performance Monitor log to collect data.
2. Use PM report to collect data.
3. Use something like "control setting" ...
4. (I forgot this one.)
Ans. I guessed (1). You can check what PM's "log" and "report" do.
Q5: Purpose of DHCP server?
Ans: Auto assign ip address
Q6: To install Member Server into BDC. How? (Check Old Questions)
Ans: Reinstall
Q7: IIS questions about "assign muti IP addresses to server's computer network
adapter. And Assign separate IP address to each companies www folder."
(Check Old Questions)
Q8: Slow logon. What to do?
Ans: Add more BDCs. (Always add more BDCs if logon is slow.)
Q9: About "diskperf -y command" (Check Old Questions)
Q10: 3 domains. Corp has all users acct. East & West trust Corp. To configure
network so that any user installing new Workstation can join any main without permission
from Administrator
A: Modify user rights in all 3 domains so that Corp users global group can add computers
to any of the domains.
Q11: Fastest possible read/write = RAID 0
Q12: Fault Tolerance with fastest possible read/write = RAID 5 (I'm not sure about write.
Maybe just read only.)
Hint: Just remember that when a question does not mention Fault Tolerance, answer should be RAID 0.
Q13: Scenario about Fault Tolerance: (Check Old Questions)
Req: Fault Tolerance in case of disk failure.
Optional: Reduced processor over head
Reduced read access time
Ans: required result, and one of the optional results.
(No reduction of processor.)
Q14: Dumpexam.exe (Check Old Questions)
Q15: What do you need for NW clients that get transfered to NT to use NT server?
A: MS Redirector in NW clients' PCs.(Somehow I remember that I didn't have to choose two
answers. If it were two answers, another one would be: Install File and Print Services for
Netware on NT server.)
Q16: *****New Question*****
Go through all scenarios about Caracus and Paris. Understand how each proposal is related
to required and optional results. For example, Single Domain is related to centralized
user management, but Resources Domains do not "manage access to their own
resources." Don't just memorize these scenarios, because Microsoft has twisted them
around. It placed Optional Results in Requirement and vice versa, so you must be able to
relate each proposal to each result.
Q17: *****New Question*****
Know replicationgovernor, pulseconcurrency, (and maybe pulse setting which didn't show up
on exam choices). What happens if you increase or decrease value of any one of them? I
can't tell you the exact wording of the question, but it has to do with "too much
network traffic." One choice said "Increase pulseconcurrency" and another
said, "Decrease something..." I chose "Decrease Replicationgovernor"
for less replication. (I took a guess.)
Q18: ALLBACKUP questions. (I think Microsoft has modified this question. I remember vaguely that Microsoft has placed "old Optional Result" into "new Required Result." Just study all scenario questions related to this subject.)
Q19: *****New Question*****
Know WINS, DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP. You must study TCP/IP to do well on Enterprise. There
were several questions which involved one or more of these terms.
Question probably went like this. 2 NICS in a machine & both are configured with
TCP/IP & NETBEUI. What to do if you get an error message that says, "There is a
duplicate computer name on Network." Choices involved applying either LMHOST, HOST,
WINS, DNS or DHCP. (Very confusing question.)
Q20: *****New Question*****
Understand purposes of HOST and LMHOST. Contrast between these two and how they are
related to Q19.
Q21:"What happens if user uses RAS to connect to a domain and does not have the correct rights?" This is a quote from a Cramsession's visitor. I think I got this one, too, but was not totally sure. I know that I had a RAS question.
Q22: Q: How will you create a memory dump file to record the memory contents in case of
Stop errors?
Ans: Specify "%system root \ MEMORY.DMP%" in the System Properties-Stop &
Shut Down -Error Recovery.
Q23: Sales trusts Corp. User is a domain user in Sales. He logs onto Corp. What will she
be able to view?
Ans: All folders in Corp that Corp/Domain guests global group has been granted Read
access. (Check Old Questions)
Q24: "Restart" from the document menu. (Check Old Questions)
Q25: *****New Question*****
Just remember this one from the top of my head: Your PC checks a connection with another
PC using "Network Connection." You can see other PCs listed. When you try to
PING one PC on the list, you get an error message. Why? Choices are something like
something wrong with WINS, DNS, LMHOST, HOST, etc.
The word, "Connection," could be "Neighborhood" or
"Explorer." I'm second guessing my memory. I've found TCP/IP questions that
mention both. You can go to those questions and check them out.
Here is a good example that I obtained from TCP/IP's Braindump: "Conversely, if you can connect to a share in Explorer, yet cannot ping the hostname, then either the Host file entry is worng or DNS is not working."
Good Luck!
